Yes I have one of these. I'm there now.
Are gambling folk more superstitious than the average person in the street. Personally I think we are. I had the habit of standing in the same place on the track if I had some luck. I have a brother who at one time used to hug a huge cement pylon under the grandstand. Anyone got one they are willing to own up to?
 
Cyc I am superstitious when it comes to the names of horses. If I see a horse with one of the kids names in it I will have a couple of quid. Usually doesn't come off though <laugh>
 
Cyc I used to be superstitious but have realised you make your own luck.

When I placed a bet I would put the betting slip in a certain pocket of either my jacket or trousers but only if the horse had won the last time the slip was in that pocket. I soon realised that this was just a stupid idea so I then changed to placing bets in bookmakers where I had a high win rate.

Isn't that still superstition? Surely it doesn't matter where the bet is placed. Just a thought. <laugh>
 
Cyc - no better place than Cheltenham for provoking superstition.
I find myself thinking back to a year ago and re-visiting what pub I drank in the night before a good day, what I had in the curry house, what time I left for the course etc.

In 2011 I had 3 winners Tuesday and 4 winners Thursday whereas Wed and Fri were desperate.
I know exactly what restaurant I ate in last year Tue night and can confirm I'll be avoiding the place like the plague this year, in fact every other eatery in Stow on the Wold could burn down and this solitary restaurant be the only place standing and I would rather call a taxi, go all the way into Cheltenham and pay £75 for the pleasure for a takeaway kebab than eat in that place again....
 
Cyc - sorry I should have said I don't place bets in certain bookmakers anymore I tend to do it online as your don't get best odds guaranteed in shops
