Question to Mods .... Should I have been monitoring the content of this thread more closely?

Such a simple thread on Football has blossomed into postings on national competitiveness, next thing you'll see will be a posting on a Porter Diamond Model analysis of Wales .... Which I gather would be pretty bleak.

Interesting posts by all I might add.

Mabon ... I suggest you start drinking heavily my friend and sober up sometime towards the end of August - save yourself all the anguish.

Now for something completely different .... Sturridge has just gone down with viral meningitis .... Is it really possible for him to recover in time to participate in the squad ... Big loss to our team if he can't.

On yet another topic .... Today is the day everybody around me celebrates our collective defeat (July 4th independence day). I heroically ignore all this and remind them that they suck at the three most important things in life ... Football, Rugby, and brewing great beer. I also remind them that the hottest actress in Hollywood comes from Oystermouth (not that they have a clue where that is because they are all geographically challenged) .... That tends to shut them up,

I get the impression that zeta jones is not too popular in Oystermouth/Mumbles.

She leaves me stone cold, much prefer Scarlett Johansson,or the aforementioned Ms. Theron.

Lucky we don't all fish in the same pond,eh? :cheesy:

Intresting views i must say. IMO people should forget an independant Wales, it would be nothing short of a disaster !!

Im assuming the pro independence people are looking forward to being ruled by cardiff instead of London , at least with the English rule there is no favouritsm towards one part of wales or another, having an Assembly in wales just channeled any money on offer into Cardiff and nowhere else, if we didnt have the assembly with its little AM piglets sucking all finances of our country away then there would be more money to spend on the WHOLE of wales !!

Being independent will do what exactly ??

Its very nice in theory but its a dumb idea on so many levels in practice <ok>

Scarlet johansson from the "lost in translation " era please <ok>

CZJ looks her age these days, nothing wrong with that but i doubt she is the prettiest girl in ostermouth let alone in America.

Gawd damn Norway, when I started reading your post I thought you were about to go into a long thesis about the merits of Zeta-Jones, Theron, et all.... Then you went all serious again, oh well.

To be fair there have been some very interesting posts on this thread and although I (and it seems many others) disagree with Mabon, he's certainly sparked an interesting discussion. For what it's worth I think with Scotland & NI completely against it and not represented this has become a non-issue anyway. I'll be cheering them on as I do any British nation trying to win something.

EDIT - ah that's what I was waiting for...

I have read all this with interest. But, I am anti the Gb squad and it is nothing to do with Nationality or the wants of the FAW it is to do with Swansea players not being available for pre season, Possibly getting injured for the start of the season. This whilst playing for a team that will never exist or play another game after 11th August.

When i look at the start we have to the season there a re a lot of winnable games. I dont want to be without or have players who having been the mainstay last season, unprepared for any changes Laudrup has made in the way we play for such important games. We will remain up this year based on the results against the likes of Readings Saints WBA and the likes. we need to hit the ground running and because of this ridiculous GB side i fear we wont. That is just my opinion and seems probably contrary to most. But it will always be Swansea city first

I'm sticking with Welsh stock, in defference to Mabon, Charlize and Scarlett have many commendable attributes but lack the lilt and cadence of the Swansea accent, which despite CZJ's best efforts slips into many of her scenes in film.

you wont get better training and match fitness than what they will get with team GB so whats the problem? Injuries can happen to anyone anywhere and you cant stop representing wales or GB or when would you be able to play...good on them and i hope they gets selected as many times as they can. that why they play football......if one of them gets injured then so what....we will just have to get on with it and if we are any good then it would be covered...

You have to have the will, and the leadership, we don't have any of those ingredients, the apathy in Wales is as a result of decades of negative control by Westminster, so until those things change, Independence is a Joke! Devolution that has been driven by Westminster, is due to the fact that there is no longer any profit in Wales, but there is still plenty of natural recourses, not to mention Water, which in time to come will be a global issue. The other major problem is that inept Assembly talking shop, that would send a glass eye to sleep, if you wait for them to get their act together, Kingdom come will be here!................ <ok>

Politics is boring and I couldn't give a toss about it.

Team GB ? Well I'm against it because we are a individual country and shoud stay like that.

More pressing matters, Charlize Theron is a sex bomb no doubt but I wouldn't kick Cameron Diaz out of bed either nor Reese Witherspoon too
