As they are proposing promotion and relegation between each group it looks like the teams at the top will be there every year earning the big money to keep them there and in the very rare occasions they might get relegated they will still have level two European football probably only for a year as their greater finances get them promoted straight back to the top level. Essentially like the first ESL proposal with the top teams guaranteed to be there.
It is starting to sound very similar. Clubs want to have more control over the competition they play in so start a new competition, which happens to now be basically the same as the one that was previously run by the governing body, but the clubs now want more say in how its run. Having seen the way the Premier League works, particularly when it came to our takeover, I actually think there is less scope for conflicts of interest if the competition is run by a proper governing body than by the clubs themselves so I am dead against the Super League idea. Getting the clubs involved may mean they can control the flow of income, but it also inevitably leads to obstacles to inclusion of other clubs as its not in their interest to not be involved. Hence the PL parachute payments etc. I would prefer if they could go a step back with European Competitions and make them truly competitive by: 1) removing the seeding based on previous performance in the competition 2) removing any payment bias based on previous performance in the competition However I suspect that, by doing that, UEFA would be driving the bigger clubs towards an ESL. It might actually be that the only reason the bigger clubs are even showing some support to an ESL is to pressure UEFA into ensuring that they retain, and improve, their defined advantages in the Champions League.
Basically those teams starting in the top league can be dog **** for 3 years but still be in Europe gaining extra money as they get relegated through the divisions. Basically ensures that if they have a bad year they won't be hit financially and can promptly return to their rightful place at the top. At least with the champions league you have to qualify year in year out.
Anyone that thinks it's the same I don't know what is lacking in their diet at this point. I'd suggest maybe starting with a tracker and slowly moving up the brain food chart to Muesli.
Last out... Meanwhile all these clubs will hold secret meetings while they come up with a long term plan on how to come up with something that works and how to slowly create arguments for it within fanbases. I also worry just how much more these clubs will get their way with the Premier league..Evertons points deduction all of a sudden looks more easily explained.
