Well today we wave goodbye to (in my opinion) Chelsea's greatest ever player, and the Premier League's greatest attacking midfielder. I genuinely would not have swapped him with anybody else.

648 appearances, 211 goals, 2 League Cups, 1 Europa League, 4 FA Cups, 3 Premier League winners medals and of course a Champions League winners medal along with countless individual accolades.

A true legend, goodbye Frankie!

The goals he scored over the years were the important ones.

I'm not sure if he's the best ever attacking midfield in the Premier League - that'd be a toss up between him and Scholes. But he's an incredible player, and has been for the last 10 plus years for you guys.

I'm not surprised he's leaving, just because you have so many younger players who might push him out of the team, but I wouldn't be surprised if he came back as a coach when he retires, he really is Mr Chelsea, as much as JT is.

And also a really nice guy. I used to run the Duke of Clarence in South Ken, and he'd come in quite frequently after a Saturday home game. He was always happy to sign an occasional autograph and chat to fans. Not the image that most players have from the media.

I wouldn't be surprised if he pops up in Spain or Italy before the MLS season starts - I can't see him back in the Premier League, despite being linked to us. As I said, he's a true Blue, although I'd be delighted if he did come.

In the mean time, I'll look forward to seeing NYCFC playing the Dynamo next year. We'll get squashed, but I think they've signed two players who can still do a job on the biggest stages.
 
Hats of to Lampard for a great Chelsea career, you should retire the number 8 shirt as he's been your greatest ever player. Forget Zola, forget Drogba , Lampard was a lot better than both of those. New York are very Lucky to get a player of his quality, he's on a different level to 99% of the players in the MLS, even at the age of 36.

He wasn't just a great player, but he was a model professional, and a genuine good guy too. I'm not gonna lie I don't respect many Chelsea players, but Lampard is one that I respect a lot.

He'll definitely be remembered as one of the best PL players of all time :biggrin:

I give respect when I think it's warranted, you can't argue with Lampards contribution to Chelsea, it's been remarkable how many goals he got from midfield over the years:biggrin:
 
It had to end sometime! A Chelsea legend and as such I trust the club will organise a goodbye testimonial match to allow us fans to say a proper goodbye!
 
As a player Chelsea have not seen better, as a professional they don't come any better, as a man he is a quiet inoffensive bloke with strong family ties. We were lucky to have him as long as we did, and he has made the right decision at the right time for himself and the team. Wish him all that he wants in his future, certain that when the boots are hung up, they might just hang at the Bridge when he joins the coaching staff. That would be the perfect ending.
 
A Chavski legend. Will give respect where it is due. Jared when we had to play against him. Good luck to him in the future
 
As a West Ham fan I can only say Terry Brown is a ****, without his short sighted stupidity we could've kept hold of one of the best players England has produced in 30 years, for a couple of seasons more anyway. It's a shame none of the England managers had the balls to have Gerrard the glory-boy serve as his back-up.
 
Absolute legend and a true and thorough professional. Some of his moments were inspirational and the goals he scored were only the start. A top player on the pitch and an absolute gent off it. He went through some tough times personally but stuck by the club and us fans stuck by him. His goal against Liverpool goes down as one of the most emotional moments i've witnessed.

His goals against Bayern, Villa and Bolton all highlights but personal favourites include Everton away, Spurs at Wembley, Wolves last minute away and my number 1... Hull away with that chip.

Cheers for it all Lamps. One of the greatest players I'll ever have the honour of watching play live. All the best. UTC.

For me his two goals against Bolton that won us the 05 title will always be my favourite Frank moment.

I guess this day had to come.

My favourite all time Chelsea player for many reasons, an absolute gentleman and without doubt a Chelsea legend. For me, the greatest we've ever had.

Hard to pick a favourite frank moment, Bolton probably though that goal v Bayern was special too.

We'll probably never see anything like him again.

Good luck in everything you do Frank and hope you'll be back soon in a coaching role etc.

I think he has moved on at the right time and wish him every success whereever he plays next

A Chelsea legend and it will be a hell of a long time, if ever, that we see a midfielder with the ability to just seem to know where the ball will land in the penalty area. The best goalscoring midfielder of his generation and certainly still has plenty to offer as a potential signing.

Hopefully we will see him back at SB in the future doing some form of coaching.

His best goal for me was the Munich one!

Just wonder who is calling the shots on these deals as Jose seemed to want to keep Ash and Lampard. However as you say, probably the right time for all concerned as we need to get the next generation up and running and it would be sad to see Frank becoming more and more bit part.
