Maybe one of this lot will make the grade.. Eleven promising young players have signed fresh contracts with Sunderland ahead of the start of the new season. Goalkeeper Ben Wilson and defenders Louis Laing, Blair Adams, Liam Marrs and Jordan Watson have all signed new deals with the club. Joining them are midfielders Roarie Deacon, James Armstrong and Adam Reed. Young defenders Connor Oliver and Anthony Callaghan plus Jordan Laidler, a striker, have signed their first professional deals having made the step up from the Academy. Meanwhile, the development squad will feature two new players after David Ferguson and Wade Joyce signed for the Black Cats following successful trials with the club. Ferguson, a defender, was formerly with Darlington, while midfielder Wade Joyce had a spell on the books at Bury.
