Yes I know it looks bad having threads 'dedicated' to our rivals up here but genuine question. Do you actually want to see them get relegated to League 1? Go into administration? Points deduction and slide further, perhaps even dissolve?

There is a lot of rhetoric around rivalry and I can freely say that I want them to continually do worse than us but I genuinely don't want any of the above to happen. I may be in the minority (not sure) but I would support Sunderland more than southern teams as they've more in common with us, deserve more through their support and because a rival in a lower league is almost pointless!

I'm sure many Newcastle fans are enjoying their current plight but how far do you want it to go?

Funny, was thinking about this earlier

One of the best things about a local rival is exactly that, having a local rival against whom things really matter

Love the derby games (despite recent results) and would never want to lose that, so whilst watching them struggle after the comments about "relegating us", "six in a row" etc is quite Karmic - I'd want that rivalry resumed

My Dad always said, he'd never mind sunderland coming second as long as we were top - probably sums it up quite nicely...

My ideal game would be us beating Sunderland in the FA (or champions league) final, coming from behind to shatter their dreams of silverware.

I can't see how that isn't better than them drifting off for a few years, most teams in the Premiership I don't give a **** about. We're currently the ONLY team from the north-east in the league, and we're only just clinging on at the moment!

Agreed - if they do disappear, where does our rivalry go - Boro, Leeds??

Fun to watch them suffer for a while (as I'd fully expect them to do to us), but wouldn't want them gone permanently
 
I don’t want their club to fold. It’s of no use that in terms of rivalry. I think another relegation would be good to teach them some humility after all their crowing to us when we went down.

Eventually though I’d want the derbies again. Ideally they go down and bounce back. Administration would be funny as long the club doesn’t cease to exist.

They are a source of amusement to poke fun at but it’s difficult to get very invested in their plight. They do have some decent fans I feel sorry for. I have a few mates who support them. Some are knobs about football and deserve it. Some are ok and I do genuinely think they’ve been shat on. Some crowed about Ashley, but he’s a much better owner than Ellis ever will be. He’s never put his hand in his pocket to help. People slate Ashley and say he only bailed us out for selfish reasons for his investment. An owner doesn’t have to as Short shows. Ashley has pumped money in when needed, appointed a manager everyone wants paying big bucks, and gave him everything the club generates to bounce back. What’s Short done for them?

I wouldn't wish a club disappearing on any club, no matter how much I hated them - and I don't hate Sunderland. I love to see us higher in the league than them, preferably winning derbies too, but I would not want them to disappear. But for 13 miles difference in the accident of our birthplace and it could be any one of us dealing with that pain. No fan should ever have to see a club run into the ground.

I have been laughing all season at them being in the bottom three - but still don't expect to see them relegated. I would take the piss out of them if they were relegated, but only once the dust had settled and things had sunk in. Relegation hurts. I wouldn't laugh if it meant them going out of business though. It would be a tragedy for lots of genuine football fans, but also bad for us, bad for the north east and bad for football.

To be honest I'm forgetting they exist, kind of sad they could soon be in a division below Shrewsbury, in another way it's possibly the warmest glow these balls have ever felt.
 
I love my football club and I want the best for it. The same applies - in a greater way -to my city. There can be huge economic benefis for a city - and region - in having successful football clubs. So, in an ideal world, I'd forever want to see NUFC at the top of the Premier League with Sunderland in mid-table and forever in our shadow but doing ok.

Couldn’t give a **** either way to be honest.

On the one hand It’s my dad’s club so i don’t want to see him lose something he cares about. It’s also good for the region to have two big teams competing in the prem.

On the other hand it would be hilarious to see them continue to slide into the abyss just for the meltdown value. Cyberspace is great when Mackems are crying. It’s like shooting fish in a barrel.

I think my ideal scenario is that they slide for another two years so we have a few more years of piss taking and then reform, regroup and come back a healthier more viable rival, who continue to live in our shadow.

For now though, i’ll keep chomping my popcorn with glee.

Yep one which has rotted slowly and seemingly meant no manager has been able to reverse it. Allardyce did ok but he only did 6 months. Others had performed similar feats but once the problems had any length of time to come to the fore, they always did. People kept blaming managers, a core of players, but to be honest I think it must be down to the leadership of club for the poison to be that ingrained.
 
Genuine question here, is there a possibility they may in fact go bankrupt?

Not joking or winding up here either. Last time I heard they had crippling debts already and if they do go down again could they be in a position like Portsmouth/Rangers.

Massive club no doubt and they do have massive support but the club is clearly not being ran properly. I do actually feel sorry for their fans.

Hate is a strong word I keep for people who I genuinely hate for a valid reason. I cannot hate fans who I do not know because of who they support.

It is funny seeing them lose week in week out but there is something seriously wrong there!

Oh... Ashley out!
