Match facts Cardiff have not done a Football League double over Sunderland since the 1970/71 season - the Bluebirds won 2-1 at the Stadium of Light earlier this campaign. Sunderland have won two of their last three away league trips to Cardiff (D1), with this their first Championship visit there since March 2007, a 1-0 win via a Ross Wallace goal. Neil Warnock has lost four of his five home league matches as manager against Sunderland - he won the other in September 2004 as Sheffield United boss. Welshman Chris Coleman has managed eight Football League matches against Welsh sides and won none (D3 L5), with this his first since a 2-1 defeat to Cardiff in March 2010 as Coventry manager. Cardiff have lost their last four league matches, which is Warnock's worst run as a manager since January 2009 when he was Crystal Palace boss (also a run of four) - he hasn't lost five consecutively since August 1995 (one with Huddersfield, four with Plymouth). The Black Cats have kept clean sheets in three of their last four away league games - as many as in their previous 40 combined; they haven't won back to back away league games without conceding since March 2007, with the second of those wins coming against Cardiff. Some interesting stats there. Coleman due a win against a Welsh team - never rated him as a club manager! (So bound to win tomorrow) Etheridge Bruno Morrison Bamba Bennett NML Ralls Damour Hoilett Healey Zohore ?
Bamba in midfield - either a very good decision or a very bad one. Unless he's gone 5 at the back. Good to Sean and Jazz back in <ok-">
Etheridge, Richards, Morrison, Manga, Bamba, Bennett; Paterson, Ralls; Hoilett, Mendez-Laing Zohore not sure how this lines up. 5 at the back with Paterson in centre mid? 541 Or 3 at the back, 343? 4231 with bamba next to rall and Paterson wide right? Head hurts.
JG - the nearest they got to scoring today was when Manga's sliced clearance hit our bar. I doubt they'd have scored unless it was an own goal. They were a very poor side and offered very little going forward. O' Shea at the back for them ought to sign up for WWW - he had Morrison on the floor every time at set pieces. When are the refs going to clamp down on this aspect of the game and award penalties?
Coleman must have been paid mega bucks to take this shower on. The worst team I've seen for a long time, they were lucky that we were not at our best first half. They were very lucky to score 0. Just hope Coleman can't get a few Welsh boys there It won't help them improve.
I’m not going to get carried away with that win. City won’t play a team as poor as that again even with 10 men. But great to win again though and I’m going to enjoy my weekend
A great springboard for Tuesday with players getting fit again. What a ball from Zohore for Ralls goal!!!
Really good for our confidence too. You could see after the second goal , how relaxed we got and even started playing football on the ground .
Second goal was the best city goal since Parkins against Norwich...mind you Zohore’s was good against Preston....oh, and that Gunnarsson long ranger!......
