I'm guessing it's the people that are confident of a big win are the ones that melt down if we don't get it.

Sunderland seem to like me. Maybe because last time I spoke to them before a game, they won.

We'll see. I think everyone will be reasonably happy with a 3-1 or a 2-0. There were the days when a draw would have have sent us into the stratosphere with delight. Expectation comes with success.

 

Listening to the whole of the Sunderland radio programme I now feel really depressed.....boy do they have problems
This is a real chance for Saints to put down a marker for European placings as these are the "Must Win" games

 

Without wishing to reopen the "unacceptable" argument, we really do need a very strong 90 minutes and an especially VERY STRONG second half performance, to put to bed the belief that we can be got at after half time.

Ron will need to be on his mettle, as much as the players, to ensure he reacts quickly to what appears to be a dropping off of performance.

 

The one-half performances are during Home games. We're pretty much a 95 minute team when playing elsewhere.

 

Sunderland have been profligate at the back, but have looked fairly dangerous in attack. They could and probably should have had 2 or 3 more against Everton. I don't think this will be a walk in the park by any means and a win of any kind and I'll be happy.

 

Yeah that was more to do with Everton being awful at the back than Sunderland being good. Their best player is Adam Johnson which speaks volume about their attacking options, or lack of.

 

You may well be right, but it won't have gone unnoticed that we sometimes switch off, second half, and this thought alone is enough to keep teams interested in chasing down lost causes.

 

True, but they'll find themselves disappointed when they realise we've got the situation covered.

Winnable game - that said our away record there is not good. Would settle for a small win with a clean sheet - ideas that we are going to rattle up a cricket score are misplaced with Big Sam having a week to sort out the defence after last weeks thrashing. He won't play three central defenders at the back and stacking the middle like he did last week. Expect a good old fashioned 4-4-2 from Sam. I think we will have to grind out this victory.
