We have two recruitment plans: 1 is a list of players if not in Europa. 1 is a bigger list if we do. Kat has already oked a big strengthening for this summer.
Alas, the way the fixtures have turned out, we might well get that damp squib. Leicester and Villa are right in the mire themselves (although in a week's time things might be looking a lot better for Villa, and one or two eyes might turn away from 18th place and towards the FA Cup final), and if the real City turn up, then we can write off that final game. That said, if the real City don't turn up, then we may well find that that is the easiest game of our season. If they go into the game in 4th, the Yaya's and the Nasri's and the Sagna's might just decide to think about their summer holidays rather than playing us. I recall them losing at home to Norwich on the final day a couple of years back. But as I say, thankfully Swansea's fixtures look sufficiently tough enough to ensure that they wont overtake us. That brilliant GD of ours may yet be the deciding factor. And then it comes to down the FA Cup final as to whether we get into Europe...
I am annoyed, but then again I think I could have been a Blackpool supporter, at least some people are worse off than us.
Even if we don't get another point but hang on to 7th, it is still an improvement on last season. A disappointingly marginal one, I agree, especially after being in the top 4 for so long earlier on, but when you look at the thinness of the squad and the injuries we've had, it could be a lot worse.
If we make Euro places, great. If we get 7th and don't get Europe, that ain't so bad, either. I just hope that we play well and win most of our remaining games. 8th would be a disappointment though.
As fun as Europa league would be for us, I think it'd be more beneficial if we missed out on it. Schneiderlin and Clyne wouldn't of accepted anything less than Champions league and honestly, I think they knew that it was an unrealistic expectation. Looking forward to an active transfer window for us though!
We will get some points over next 3 games, so will probably finish 6th or 7th, whereas I had been hoping for 5th or 6th. Not that it will probably make much difference in the end, but I want Ron to do better than MP (who seems to think that he has done all the work, despite the fact that half the team wasn't here). Want to be above Spurs more than I want us above Liverpool....as I am willing to concede that Liverpool might (might, mind you) be a slightly titchy bit bigger than Saints....but Spurs? NEVER!!!!
Was watching the Saints vs Spurs game last week with a mate who doesn't really follow Football, but still has a grasp of the rules and stature of the clubs. I was taking the piss out of him a little bit by going on about how we're so much bigger than Spuds. I don't think he understood my piss-take and argued that he believed that Spurs and Saints were equal sized clubs! Good fun.
Realistically, no. But the only way it could happen is if we continue to play like crap. Why take a Europa spot for granted? It's in our hands and we should be seizing the opportunity. If nothing else, it's something to build off for next season. But I'm less concerned about qualifying for Europa than the quality of play, tbh. I don't know. I get your point that perhaps people are panicking. But OTOH, that was a terrible performance. And IMO, inexcusable. If we were safely ensconced at 13th or something with no chance of moving up or down, I'd still be annoyed at our play today and concerned about our level of play over the last month or so in general. If they play like total dogshit, it's not over-the-top to point that out. And no, I don't say that every time Saints lose. This was genuinely the worst performance of the season for me.
I was on about the people saying Swansea can catch us etc. I am not on about people complaining about today.
Steige, you have got to have your fun whilst it's on offer, let's go and enjoy it.As it goes I believe this club will cope.
This is the type of game that happens at the end of the season. When you are fighting relegation, you look to certain games and decide your relegation rival will lose it and then they go and get a win. Not just happening to us...look at Liverpool last week.
Relatively tough away game. Right up in the north of the country away from home. They are desperate to stay up and take revenge after the 8-0. Hostile and noisy crowd. We lose by 1 goal, giving away two penalties. Several players out injured. Let's compare it to Man City at home. We lose 0-3 at home despite City going down to 10 men at 1-0. We start the game with our strongest eleven. I know which performance was worse and so do you.
It is really. We are 4 points clear of them with a huge goal difference advantage. They have hard games against two teams fighting for 2nd. That's see how they do against them before worrying.
They are four points behind us with a -1 goal difference. Ours is +20. They basically need to pick up five points with us losing all three. Swansea have Arsenal away, Man City home and Palace away. They aren't going to pick up five points and we certainly aren't losing all three.
