Good going lads.

A totally **** thread has been knocked into some kind of shape thanks to us all ........ the OP should hang his head tbh.

So we now have links, a bit of background and a few guesses on team changes.

It just shows that, sometimes, you can polish a turd <whistle>

I've prepared carefully for this game.

I studied past performances, with night matches, and factored in the time difference, one hour ahead here, as well as other vital considerations.

I've analysed the stats from previous games and discussed expected requirements with my assistant.

Taking everything into consideration we've gone for a flexible formation which allows for extra time and, if there's no resolution, penalties.

So, we've gone for, a 12 pack of Stella over the warm-up and first 60 minutes ..... this has already gone into operation.

After an hour or so we'll bring on the 'impact subs' in the form of Leffe & Peroni ........ this will provide a good balance to the Stella which can become a little bland after half time.

If the game goes to extra time, and nerves are stretched, we have a backup of Desperado as an international flavour might provide a boost at a vital stage.

We may have to make specialist changes if we end up with penalties and, as you know in these situations, the captain can play a big part.

So we'll bring in Captain Morgan and hopefully get in a few good shots <laugh>

Hopefully, by the end of the night, we'll all be on champagne and planning for Wembley.

Full Sunderland team: Mannone, Celustka, Bardsley, Brown, O’Shea ©, Ki, Gardner, Colback, Johnson, Altidore, Giaccherini
Subs: Cabral, Larsson, Fletcher, Cuellar, Borini, Mavrias, Dixon

Young goalkeeper Joel Dixon is called into the squad tonight and will be on the substitutes’ bench in the absence of Westwood.

Wes Brown makes his first start at the Stadium of Light since January 2012 and Emanuele Giaccherini is also handed his first start under head coach Poyet.

Vito Mannone comes in for injured goalkeeper Keiren Westwood, whilst Ondrej Celustka and Craig Gardner start in place of Andrea Dossena and Lee Cattermole who are both missing the first game of their three match ban.

Gus Poyet has made seven changes to the Sunderland side that were defeated at Hull City on Saturday.

The Black Cats haven’t lost to Southampton in the last five meetings between the two sides with previous two fixtures ending in 1-1 draws.

Sunderland host Southampton in the fourth round of the competition tonight as the Black Cats look to repeat their last performance on Wearside - a 2-1 victory over Newcastle!

**** all like that previous unconfirmed ****e ;)
