Match Day Thread Sunderland vs Saints - 11/02/17 KO-15:00

Yes, the thought struck me too as I was watching the highlights last night. The difference being that Gabbiadini got his 2 goals when Sunderland were up for it and fairly confident. Shane got his when they were disheartened and tired. Nevertheless, good for him to take advantage. When Shane came on for Manolo, I thought, oh dear, no hat-trick. But it proved to be excellent for Shane and the team, so well done Claude.

 

He was very good - as Mikey commented earlier, he's made some great strides in terms of his physicality, and he linked well with Cedric (and made for a good 'inside right' option when CS broke forwards).

He does sometimes still tend to look for the less positive pass, but then so did Ray "crab" Wilkins, and he wasn't a bad player.

 

Manolo looked a bit arthritic when he came off...so best not to over do it when there was no need. If we need a goal in the League Cup, he'd have to continue even if he had a severed leg.

 

Yes, I thought so too. Also, I thought I noticed Shane was walking a bit stumbly late on in the game as well.

 

Luckily two weeks to go....though Jay may want to look for his shin pads.

 

Yes, what's this thing about Jay and his shinpads.? I looked, half-interestedly, last night. Nothing.

 

One commentator mentioned that Jay had flung them down. Let's face it....any striker would fancy getting on to play against Sunderland yesterday. He will get some game time, but has undoubtedly moved down the pecking order. If you want a change towards the end of the game, every manager would put Shane on the pitch. Nothing wrong with a bit of desire to play though.

If Dusan had played like he did yesterday since he came back from injury, then we would be up with Everton now. It can't be overstated how important he is to us when he is on form.

Did the same thing for me for a little while, then suddenly it came good. Probably due to the fact that I was downloading something at the time.
