it's a worry... I see it like this.... if in Jan we are in the top 4 then we should not sell regardless of the bid and the players feelings again. if we are out of top4 contention and we get a silly bid then sell. basically it's gonna take a silly bid to get Suarez 50/65m. if he goes he goes, personally I love the unpredictable nature of the guy... warts and all but every player has a price.
Oh look, Mignolet signs for Liverpool and instantly become the best in the league, shocker. Quelle surprise! Will only repeat what I said the other week, while Liverpool look good they are only an injury away from a crucial player to suddenly become less good. Certainly in the mix for top four though, no doubt about it. I would say that City, Arsenal and Spurs are definitely better and then the likes of Liverpool, United, Chelsea and maybe even Everton can make a fist of fighting for the fourth slot. I'd be happy with top six this year but sadly a lot of our 'supporters' don't see the big picture and will see qualifying for the champions league as the be all and end all. Let's face facts, all that does is line the Glazers pockets, nothing more. It's a competition we won't win for a year or two so I honestly couldn't care less if we're not in it. I would rather Moyes got money to spend this winter/next summer and made a push for it next season.
I agree with you and respect you for being a 'proper' fan Although I'm not sure where you got 'Mignolet signs for Liverpool and instantly become the best in the league' from?? Unless you think De Gea is and you're using my comparison to base that statement on??
1, but we don't look good, our position in the league yeah, but we haven't even been close to our form of the end of last season. 2, we have had out fair amount of injuries so far and Suarez out for 6 games but keep dreaming. 3, spurs look good to stay top four, arsenal IMO are the team who won't be able to cope with a few key injuries but should still get top four. city, Chelsea and you lot, who knows but it really doesn't look good for utd this season despite it being so early. if we get top 4 I for one will be amazed.
Add to that 3 key players have been out - Coutinho, Agger, and Johnson. They are all due back soon, so we've certainly got the squad to cover a crucial player getting injured - as we've proved already this season, especially as you point out that Suarez missed the first 6 games. I wonder how Utd would get on if Jamanjizzz got injured?
Yep at the minute the scousers look decent. But like every season without fail just when their thick fans start to really believe they fall apart. Just enough hope for them to say. ..this year is our year...
Do you honestly see Johnson as being crucial? I was thinking along the lines of Sturridge, Mignolet, Gerrard Lucas when I say one of your crucial players. I think you've got cover at centre half for Agger being out not to have a massive effect either.
yeah well everyone has thick fans (carrick) I can only apologize for them. but any lfc fan saying we are gonna win the league is mad. no one seriously thinks that lol we could finish above you this year thats gonna be nice for a change, just thinking the 1st time we finish above utd in yonks and we still might not get the title..... or even top 4
you were saying how we would crumble with a crucial injury or two and I explained how that was bollox..... quite simple really.
In the system we're playing at present yes Johnson is crucial. I grant you Mignolet, as Jones is ****e. Lucas can be covered easily by Henderson (some even prefer Henderson in that role) or Alberto who looks a very good player. Gerrard - could be problematic, but I think in Jan we'll bolster our options - but once again Henderson or Alberto could slot in if needed. Sturridge - We have Suarez, so we'll just change formation and play one up front, with Coutinho in the hole. We've got options this year, that's the difference. We're versatile and are comfortable in different formations to suit who's missing. Yes our midfield needs another option, but I'm sure BR knows that and is working on who to bring in.
Where is MFG by the way? Very quiet I imagine. I did say you're potentially top four and I stand by it, be interesting to see how this season pans out. Where we are very (very) weak is in midfield, I actually think we're ok in all other positions bar left back. One midfield I envy is Arsenal's.
MFG is in a padded cell on suicide watch I admit Arsenals midfield looks quality - they have a perfect balance. Gotta go having a roast - good talking to ya
Neither - just a feast. Mother in laws Birthday Duck, Beef, Chicken and all the trimmings. With a fine selection of alcoholic beverages... Feeling sleepy now Zzzzzzzz
'The despair we can cope with. In the end it is the hope that gets us'. memorable words from a popular film. Cruel fate always provides the scousers that hope which gets dashed. When? Now some years it is as early as October. This year I an betting on December or even January. The naivety of Moyes is vastly overplayed. If you finish above United, you have got a guaranteed CL place. Trust me
