Interesting report but I would dispute the point that we are a side 'thrown together' in the summer. Yes we bought quite a few but the core of the side is much the same as last season.
And the usual old guff about the number of managers with no reference to the reasons for the changes.
Anybody who had this down as a "home banker" needs their head examined. We need to ask Allardyce where our other three points are.
Including probably our 4 most important players in Gomes, Cathcart, Deeney and Ighalo but then that doesn't make it an interesting story...
I am not someone who wishes to commit suicide when we lose, or go over the top when we win, I have been a Watford fan for too long and have seen bad and good, but in that first half today there were periods when I thought our team was as good as any I have ever witnessed. The passing was slick, precise and penetrating. The way that players plucked the ball out of the air and had immediate control of it showed how technically gifted they are. Every game we seem to improve that little bit more and I wonder if we really can show over the next few weeks we are to be regarded as a top half team. The wine tastes very good tonight.
Just watched second half of Bournemouth v Man Utd - superb battling performance by them - great game to watch and thoroughly deserved. I think they will stay up and Eddie Howe will manage England within next 10 years.
My goodness... what a day... Snowstorms and roadworks on the A1 meant it took three hours to get there from Leeds... and we rocked into our seats just a minute before kick off..... We really could have been 4-0 up before half time... .we were so good. Some great attacking moves from midfield using Ake and Nyom on the flanks.... great football Second half we sat back a little and they ground us down.... and to be honest they could have scored 4... Great saves from Gomes and heart stopping moments watching shots slew across the 6 yard box and run wide... phew !! We messed up some great breaks though.... Another win... great atmosphere.... proud to be there COYH!!!!
What a cracking 1st season back you lot are having. Hope the conditions haven't caused too much hassle and was worth the trip. The performance was definitely worth the win.
Thanks Rick. Most of us are still looking down, rather than up. Today could easily have gone the other way.
Given that his mother tongue is Spanish, he speaks well enough, but is a bit or a mumberler. Geezer needs a shave, it´d knock 10 years off him, or maybe it was the weather and second half onslaught that gave him the grey sprouts!!
Can we please see if Chelsea will sell Nathan Ake to us. Best left back in a Watford shirt I have seen for a very long time.
MOTD..... Gomes talking of goalkeepers getting better with age like fine wine.... I will drink to that
Agree, as I said during the match, I was really impressed by the passing today, it's not usually our strongest point.
He would need to be able to be show what he can do at another club before he can be considered and given that he returned to Bournemouth after his stint at Burnley, does he believe he can do that?
Good point re passing.... much better re recent games... around 74% I think... whereas we have been in lower 60s in past games. Certainly from where we were we had a superb view of the moves and in the first half we played some great passing moves... I think another goal in that period would have sealed but then they started to push us back and we didn't keep the two men up. Sunderland left us so much space too..... Of course Anya didn't play in that first period nor Paredes and their passing has been iffy. Nyom's seemed better at times..
