Mcgeady is twice the player summerbee ever was. His history clearly proves that.
Maybe if we had the equivalent of skp and snq waiting for the crosses or in and around the box who knows.
This blame game is annoying. Macgeady virtually did it on his own last season getting to the play offs after maja was sold.
He was the only one scoring and making assists. He isnt the player he used to be but I'm happy to bet any other team in
the league would take him like a shot if his wages could be afforded.
Maybe it is hangover from the ross tenure in that he was the only one playing with confidence and default position was if in doubt give it to AM.
Maguire hardly covered himself with glory yesterday and in all honesty has been very ordinary the past few games.
We are playing with more intent and creating far more chances that is clear. Sadly we dont have the strikers to convert those chances
    Parkinson knows this.
Those expecting a 3 or 4 nowt game are maybe narked because like the Shrewsbury and wycombe game , they got it so wrong.
PP has a lot poison yet to suck out of the wound inflicted by ross

McGeady's history is irrelevant, we need him playing well now and he isn't.

He's not fashioning chances that the strikers are missing.

Summerbee may or may not be an inferior player but he was very effective.

He'd receive the ball and either cross the ball or quickly beat his man and cross. Defenders didn't have time to get behind the ball so the strikers had the upper hand. McGeady is slowing things down so much the defence is all in place and facing the ball.

And, it's not a 'blame game' as you claim, just people giving their opinion on a forum for talking about football. There's a difference between a discussion and an argument.

As I said in the post, I chose to watch Grigg closely when the ball was in wide areas and he was making runs but the ball never came in. And the specific attribute I compared AM to NS on was crossing and on that score Summerbee was was hell of a lot better than Mcgeady ever will be. Did Quinny ever play with Mcgeady for ROI? If so how many assists did Mcgeady give him?

It's not the "blame game". It's based on the evidence of my own eyes - and anyone else's who can be objective.

    He's been dreadful.

Wonder if he's still not over his broken foot fully yet

Mind Grigg been playing like he's had 2 broken legs all season

Agree with the comments about McGeady, he's been poor all season and yesterday was a demonstration of what the problem is. He's too much of a maverick in his positioning too, when he was supposed to be on the left wing with Hume most of the time he'd drifted miles infield and wasn't available for a pass down the wing or to help out when they broke.

It's not a great way for a senior player to treat a youngster who needs help. Fortunately Southend were ****e and Hume played a blinder or we'd have been hammered on that side.

O'Nien showed how to do it he tracked back, was always available on the wing and didn't try and fail to do it all himself when nobody wants him to.

Mind you the problem could be solved by playing him behind the striker. I think that's where he wants to play anyway as he's always stood there regardless of what position he's supposed to be playing.

Could be a cracking way to get the most out of the last few years of his career.

To be fair to mcgeady he set up a nice pass for the player to cross the ball for our goal mind

He did, and Hume put the ball into the box first time without messing about and we got the goal.

He did a couple of nice things and remains a talented player but he's been getting on my wick a bit all season and yesterday even more so.

I don't think he's going to work in this team personally unless he's going to play AM. He could be mint there.

Did you notice when Dunc came on yesterday Grigg was told to play where your suggesting McGeady should play. He dropped back possibly for Dunc or O9 to lay balls off for him. This could be the way to assist Grigg

I'm not going to knock McGeady, he played well last season, but it was league 1. Summerbee did the business in the Championship and premier league. Different players mind.

I reckon he'd be really good in that role. I think he'd score more and link up with Grigg.

Watmore and Gooch on the wings and Geads in the middle with McNulty ahead of him is what I'd go with.
