3-0 great result lads Oxford up next I will be going to the next 3 home games, what a change from last season eh ?
I love this type of Churchillian language coming from the club....the two last paragraphs sum it up for me. There is a special pride about SAFC that I don't think other clubs have; we know we aren't the best but we have a history that matches our beliefs...…...hard work, dedication. That message was lost through the Short-era as the chairman and his dis-jointed leadership team tried to form us into a club we were not, and never will be. This is summarized best by the other post running on this site where - amongst other things - we find out that someone entered knowingly into a contract to pay someone GBP1000/month to move plants! There will undoubtedly be dark days ahead with injuries, disappointments, bad decisions, younger players making mistakes, Ross making strange choices. The one thing we should never lose sight of is that two business men with their heads screwed on, have invested directly in our club on the basis of what appears to be a love of football first and foremost. They've even managed to convince a wealthy contributor to join us on this journey, and this guy had the guts to go into the stands yesterday and soak up the atmosphere first hand. That takes guts, and we as SAFC, need to thank them for their courage and support them as the 12th Man through thick and thin.
I thought we played some grear stuff first half which gave us the freedom to take the foot off the gas in the second half.. Gooch shaded man of the match for me..
I think that's spot on also. Still baffles me how Moyes didn't have the bottle to play him and the other youth when he was at the helm...no courage! One other thing that I've noticed about our playing style is about the keeper's distribution. The days of hoofing the ball to the big man upfront as soon as it's in his hands appear to have gone. The first instinct now is to roll it out to our mids or R/L backs to then work the ball up front through controlled link-play. I believe this is one of the reasons why we are gaining so much possession. Think this is one of Jack's strategies? If so, long may it continue.
Makes sense regarding the keeper if you haven't got a big target man who can confidently win the ball from goal kicks etc, wonder if it'll change at all when Wyke is fit
By all accounts seems Ross is all about playing football from the back, so I doubt we will change more that we will have the big lad on the end of crosses. Be interesting to see how we set up, Maja surely can’t be dropped given the start he’s had can he?
I've been wondering who would drop out when our more favoured players, are fit to start. currently it would be a bit harsh to change things if we manage to get two good results, away this week. Having a fully fit squad if we're lucky enough for that to happen will give the manager good for thought and he'll have to earn his money.
Your head must have been muddled by the result General, The Uruguayan and the noisy lads were in the South stand!
It'll be a great position to be in for once! Decent players fighting for a position. At the SoL. Who'd have thought!
Did anybody see any trouble after the game? I saw 2 Sunderland lads, 1 with a bust nose and another with his lip split in half. Lots of blood splattered on the floor aswell
Pleased with progress so far even though it's so early in the season. We have just been on a free fall for so long now it's nice to get a bit of stability. Momentum, momentum so let's keep this going. Four points from the next two away games would be great, but I would take two draws. Hopefully I would like to think that we can dominate this league, but my nerves are still shot from the Short era.....slowly, slowly the ship is starting to turn in the right direction.
Got a tear in my eye after reading that, and undefeated that's a bloody word I haven't heard for a long time.
Hope you have a cracking time mate I am off to Hawkshead on Sat for a week with our lad and the grandbairns if you are water falling Colwith is the nicest one nearest you also if you like lamb get yourself to Wainwrights in Chapel Stile.
So that's where all the Sunderland fans are online, **** this place see you later losers! Only kidding, sounds like the Scunthorpe fans had as much of a mare as their team did. Didn't hear a peep out of them after they went behind which is almost unheard of from away fans.
Read an interview with the Scunthorpe gaffer who said it may have been different had they got the penalty they “should’ve had” at 0-0 Guess he missed the penalty we should’ve had a minute before that! Tunnel vision at its best
All ifs and buts....it's the old if your aunty had balls she would be your uncle......if Big Sam had stayed we would have won the Champions League last season right...lol? Never understand managers who can't take a beating....
