I'm not sure about Gooch as a WB, I don't think he's got the temperament to learn the defensive side of it properly. Let him attack like he's good at.
we have been saying that for years but the dipshits still sign the smallest fekkers out there however Wyke is tall like a battleship at anchor but tall, and if the ball richochets off him enough a few are bound to go in ..off his arse mainly.
But we didn’t lack attacking intent midweek. We had 20 attempts. Today was nowhere near that but Hume put a number of very good balls in with no one on the end. The intent is there (team wise) and, personally I’d rather see Graham in there. He’s a better footballer that the other 2!!
pleased that ended to be honest...said for a while our defence had not really been troubled, all this talk of how much burge has improved yet his first real test and he does not inspire any confidence. buck for this one stops right and firmly at parky's door, pompey were always going to come here all guns blazing to prove a point...we should have been set up to keep them at bay then changed it at half time, parky went right out and did exactly what was expected of him and stuck with exactly the same formation/tactics/idea as the previous games (idea in singular on purpose). onien, god bless the lad, should never have been in that 'left back' position, he has given everything plus more in that role and any other he has been asked to play but with fit defenders he should not be there, he is NOT a defender and it showed today, gooch should also not be in any kind of defensive role/cover when we have 'proper defenders' fit. yes, i called for scowen to start over dobson yet i am now wondering why, seems to have had less and less a part to play as the games have gone on...power, i stopped counting how many passes he misplaced today, even grant had a wobbly first half. wyke, put the ball directly into his run path so does not have to change speed or direction and he will get goals...other than that he seems to not want to get 'stuck in', he cannot judge the flight of a ball, cannot turn and shoot in fact most of the things that make a good, even decent striker...if the rest of the team are going to be asked to provide pin point passes to his feet then i am afraid we will not see many goals scored (by us). hume tried his hardest to create/score but he cannot do it alone, he was left with little support today,no surprise it was his play and cut back that lead to our goal.
I would rather see Benji get a run of games. How many chances have them 3 had? He might not be the finished article but he has pace and will put his head in where it matters. Impossible to be any worse.
This for me, we have like for like on the bench but Kimpioka gives something different with his pace and is unpredictable. He isn't polished but might be worth a chance off the bench against tired legs.
Agreed, he was a weak link when I think about it. It's alright Gooch RWB when it's mid to lower league opposition, but not the top teams. Might have been a different game with O'Nien playing there instead.
i am going more towards 'can only be better' at the minute...i did give our strikers the benefit of the doubt when the team was just not creating chances, but we have created enough to have at least doubled our goals for since the season start. it has been mentioned once or twice lately but onien could be a good call as well, good positional sense, can judge the flight of the ball and not afraid to get in amongst it...give him and benji a couple of chances in training and see what happens...i honestly think it is pure ignorance from parky not wanting to be called out for wasting money by not playing his strikers.
Agree about Wyke and Grigg. But Graham has had chances at a league 2 higher than this. Hasn’t had any at this level yet. None at all. Just think he’s a far better and more intelligent player than the others
Yeah I think he's too much of a square peg for a round hole to make him into a defender, he's not clueless by any means and has the necessary fight but it might take years to make him good at it which would be pointless. In retrospect it wouldn't have taken a genius to identify him as a weak link and put your best attacker on him which is what they did and for the first goal he was miles out of position.
i am aware of that but he is manager so they are his strikers bought by the club..so he either plays them or sticks 2 fingers up to the club (well, SD anyway)...we need a manager with gonads right now and i just dont think parky is that man.
This league is a lottery tbh. Portsmouth are a very poor team and pick up results by accident. It's no surprise they can't get out of this league and would struggle if they did, We're no better but could attract wealthy buyers whereas Portsmouth are just a club with a past but no future.
Rochdale now what were they famous for again oh yes that's right , don't wear a kilt if you have long hair, and especially don't bend over outside a kebab shop, you have been warnedouch
Bad luck chaps, Pompey have been up and down this season, you just caught them on a better day. The first goal, was a great opening move, the second a present, but the penalty was 50 50, it wouldn't have changed the result probs.
You can't be bothered to post on your own forum but make a point of posting on here ... ... which you wouldn't have done if you'd lost. Don't pretend you're just being matey, you've only come on to gloat. No wonder your own forum is so shyte if you're a Mod.
I believe I wished Sunderland well on here, after we lost to you in the playoffs. Pompey have another forum, which is more popular. I only became the mod, as we had to have one and noone else wanted to do it at the time.
