Really pleased to see Ozturk in today, a good left back and that could be a really effective back four.

If we bring a left back, which I'm sure we will, and move McLaughlin to right back that'll give us O'Nien as an option on the right or even centre midfield.

As I said this morning I'm hoping Ozturk is there all season in a settled back four that'll really get used to each other.

Totally agree mate. I still think we need a new CB as back up though.
Mike Baldwin and Mickey Flanagan worry me.

Very true, their passing and especially their final ball into the box left much to be desired, but our defence did well. The three strikers looked OK today, once the mid field sorts itself out we should climb this table quickly. And maybe even win a game or two with something to spare, its been a long time since we did that.

I fancy we win 2-0 at Rochdale then a comfortable win against Wimbledon then we all be a bit more relaxed.

There's always Loovens. <yikes>. If Oz and Willis stay fit we should be OK, but the three we have as cover are a bit shaky.

I liked what I saw of Bainbridge pre season. I am in two minds about sending him out on loan, as is being mooted, We have some very promising young players but the pressure always seems to be on them these days. I thought Hume looked the part today when he came on, he is still far from the finished article, but shows real promise imo and only by playing at this level will he fulfil it, the same applies to both Robson and Embleton who also show flashes of class, maybe I look back on the days of Alan Brown and Shoot with rose coloured specs, but it was a time when football was less stressful and consequently more enjoyable, or so it seemed, and loyalty worked both ways to a point. <ok>

Couple of things I've just read, Ross doesn't think McNulty's hammy strain will keep him out long although he'll probably miss Tuesday's game.

Also Donald says they're close to securing new investment, he sounded excited about it.

Yet another CB? How many will that be.

It is good that Ozturk who looked like a disaster when he started is getting now

Mad turnaround. He was outstanding back end of last season and looks a different player. Today was the first time in years I’ve had confidence in a pairing, I didn’t fancy us to concede when we got pressed at the end. Willis looks like he’s gonna be one that gets better every game. He’s not great passing the ball out but he’s a proper tidy defender and that’s fine.

We ain’t Man City, defenders defending is fine by me.

Just been checking the stats for yesterday..

Of course the one that matters is 2-1

However, our possession and shots on target poor.

Now Chitty had loads of shots against Spuds and did not win..thanks to VAR.

But imho we just have to create more chances, passes to the strikers are poor in the box. If we can improve that we will do well

I'd hoped Embleton would be unlocking defences around the box, is he injured or dropped ?

He's a kid whose only first team experience is L2. We can't expect too much of him.

Same for Hume, if you get on their backs then you could ruin them

Although we have the penchant for conceding 1 goal... in reality that is not too bad (even Chitty and the Bindippers concede the odd goal)

Its banging them in at the other end that concerns me.

Yesterday 2 shots on target and two goals is great... but good balls into the strikers who have shooting opportunities are few and far between... that imho is what Ross and his team have to work on.

I thought 'the king's was good yesterday!
