I am much happier with KLD than the Saudis. He's a football enthusiast who wants to own a football club for the joy of owning a football club. The Saudis are using Newcastle as a propaganda tool, which they'll drop as soon its usefulness to them ends.

It's ridiculous to compare the merits of a football player to an openly murderous regime that tortures and mutilates people.

Every supporter hopes new signings will be a success.

You wouldn't be calling the same Sunderland supporters liars to their face imo.

Didn’t you once work for the Saudis or am I mixing you up with someone else?
That’s not the question I asked. I asked if you believed the fans were happy with Wood given I didn’t hear one of them remotely mention him prior to his signing. I didn’t ask if they hoped he’d be a success, that goes without saying.
Also I’ve had these conversations regarding Saudis and have absolutely told them they were kidding themselves if they’d prefer KLD. Why wouldn’t I?? It’s no big deal surely.

As I said. This is a very common sight these days, it will not be going away.

As for Keane, apart from his own disposition preventing an undue amount of celebration, there was also the fact that we had been up and down like a bride's nightie for years.

Right now, we have been on a downward slide for five years. A turning of the corner, if we are promoted , will definitely be something to celebrate, though no one will oblige you to join in.

We are a league one team. Hoping that we weren't, or referencing our previous status, won't get us up.

I can assure you now, that had our club been kidnapped by a murderous and bloodthirsty tyrant for his own make up, I would never have set foot in the SOL again.

Whether or not you think this is "rubbish" or you are unable to see why, is irrelevant.

People with whom you disagree are not, by default, talking rubbish. That is an extraordinary and arrogant assumption.

    I don’t believe you.
I remember how ‘principled’ some of our fans tried to be when then facist Di Canio was brought in! All that was forgotten after a couple of knee slides.
I’ll be honest I couldn’t care if Fred and Rose west owned us providing they provided us with an entertaining team that challenged for trophies.
The fans are the club, players, managers and owners are merely passing through. Providing they do a good job whilst here I couldn’t care about their backgrounds.

You can't see it can you?

I don't require your "belief" . No-one does, on anything.

To try and compare the half baked political views of an ex manager with a regime which murders on a whim, loathes the West, imprisons political opponents, persecutes Christians, Jews, Shia Muslims and Buddhists, tortures gay people, has an apartheid system and bombs innocent children regularly is infantile, and beyond absurd.

I can see it, I understand you don’t require my validation.
I don’t give my opinion in the hope of receiving it either. It is what it is.

Attempting another ridiculous comparison doesn't help your argument in the way you believe.

Whether I worked for a Saudi or not is irrelevant, that wouldn't mean I was owned by the Saudi state.

I've learned, on forums, that once people start to become personal it's time to move on.

So happy to take their money but not have a club you support owned by them. Haway man!
There’s nothing at all personal in any of this, I couldn’t care less how you make a living I’m just pointing out people will do and say things for their own benefit and not really place too much emphasis on being objective.

However we are probably drifting from the point here. I have my opinions you have yours. No big deal.

I try not to get involved with these discussions but I can assure you that I am not a liar and I would much rather have KLD as an owner than the Saudi Public Investment Fund whose investment is nothing more than “Sportswashing”.

KLD has said that we will work to a five year rolling business plan and we must be sustainable and self sufficient. His initial investment in the Academy shows his priorities for the club. What’s not to like about that?

Leaving the obvious league places aside, how could any self respecting Sunderland supporter ever cast an envious eye toward that lot up the road, let alone hanker for owners that need to “Sportswash” their despotic regime

What is KLD doing with academy? I have 2 sons there under 14s and under 12 can’t say I’ve seen any changes.

You should take your blindfold off then and look at the people he has employed and the pathways he has had them impose.

Perhaps these changes are happening above the level my lads are at.
Genuinely nothing has changed in terms of training, facilities etc since KLD has arrived. Not that it wasn’t decent enough anyway mind.

Speakman has made a number of appointments geared toward attracting the best young talent to the club and manage their progress at the academy.

If we are to believe what he says, and I do, each player will eventually have pathways identified, either to the first team, or transfer to another club. They will have personal improvement plans with individual coaching to achieve them.

The results of a 5 year rolling business plan will take time to become noticeable but that doesn't mean nothing has changed.

Well on face of it it’s the same scouts scouring the Saturday morning football and the U14s have the same squad from last 3 seasons.
As you say it’ll take time though but it’s one thing talking the talk quite another walking it.

Good job, your children were not playing football near a telecommunications site in Yemen a couple of days ago: as the Saudis bombed it... some children were killed/injured.
