What was he thinking when he made that challenge - I can see why the ref has gave it. I can't see that being overturned.
Must say I though McGeough looked like a passenger in his style of play today. That's not to say he's a bad player but I think he needs players around him to do his off the ball work. He did make a couple of good interceptions granted but his pressing is nonexistent and we missed Honeyman's endeavour in the middle when he was moved wide. He may well be the man to unlock defences but he will need a Gattuso to his Pirlo and Catts was a bit shattered to do that for him today and Honeyman was the only option to move wide.
I see things through my red and white glasses. If I'm honest I thought it was a red. The problem we will see as the season goes on that there will be worse tackles and will at best be a yellow. One thing though is that Ross certainly seems to get his team fired up which is so good to see. Love the passion and I'm old school....you shouldn't expect to come to Sunderland and not get a kicking with us being in their faces for 90 mins.....where as this been for all the years? The f*ckers we have had needed to be paid 70 grand a week and make one tackle to get on the treatment table for months.....love our new team.....and more so love the passion of these lads. Feels like every game we are going into battle.....win, lose or draw with these lads I'm proud of them....
All I know about McGeough is from a preseason commentary where they couldn't believe how much ground he covered so i thought he was more of a Gattuso than a Pirlo, either that's wrong or he'll take a bit longer to get back to full fitness.
For goodness sake Monty, when you do reply, at least try and reply properly. You countered almost everyone's assessment of the game but you say keep it up you two. Of which two are you referring to? If you're going to engage on here at least try and do it properly. You don't engage in discussions or reply to comments directed to you or do yourself any favours in the way you post in general. You.have an opinion but its ignored and abused because of the way you behave. I'm sure your only way of replying to me will be along the along the lines of **** you anyway, so go ahead.
The standard of player may not be as great in league one compared to the two leagues above but the passion of a lot of the players is there for all to see. If you just lower class expectations and go with the passion thing then you might just enjoy this league a whole lot more. If you get the right blend of players then it's a pleasure to watch most of the time.
There was a worse tackle in the same game which got a yellow! The ref today seemed to think “I’ll show em” and bought every dive and feign of injury that Oxford showed. The tackle on Honeyman was over the ball, the tackle by power was clumsy and cynical but in no way dirty.
Good result considering the red card. Nowt to worry about for me. Staying unbeaten while the team gets to grips with each other and the manager is mega.
Personally I would have took Catts off as opposed to Honeyman. Catts was a passenger after the booking and could not tackle or he was off as well.
Just as an aside to the match, being a computer ludite I can never find streams etc to watch the match and every game I rely on the clubs match day text update site to keep abreast of how the game is going. During yesterday's game that site crashed late in the first half and was never rebooted. The club took it off line at half time and I ended up watching the BBC final score programme which is awful and updating our match thread on here. Just wondering why there has been no mention on the clubs website to apologise for yesterday's problem. does anybody else rely on the clubs website for the match?
Did catts get booked? Also honeyman wasn't subbed just moved wide which catts can't do so more necessity than choice.
Catts booked in first half which had an impact on his overall performance to the point that he couldn't tackle. That said, I thought he put a decent enough shift in.
Did well to claw a point given the early red, they were the better side even when we had 11 in truth. Referee was a bit of a ****ing idiot throughout.
Same here I follow with the club site but yesterday when it failed I went onto sky stream and found it was about 10 to 15 seconds faster than the BBC I even suspect that the BBC are using this site for their coverage as the reports are identical. Haven't seen any apologies from the club site yet!
Certainly not knocking Catts but the booking had a significant knock on. Catts visibly had to pull away from a few tackles.
Catts was involved in the first goal and the sending off, having already been booked, not that he was to blame or had a bad game, I here you say, why he is so loyally defended, and excused time and again, he has always been poor and getting worse imo.
You mean the 1st 19 minutes where we've started slow virtually every game but then went on to win? Yeah i'll notuse that to gauge how the rest of the game would have gone given we consistently win from behind. Ref ****ed that entire game for us. Need to stop starting so slow though don't we? At least stop conceding so early.
Catts ran around for 70 minutes in a 10 man team with a booking. I think he did bloody well taking all into account. Also Catts didn't make the keeper set his position so badly for the goal or make Power lunge when he had 3 players covering. Scapegoating is well and truly back here.
As stated I am not knocking Catts He put a decent shift in. What I am saying, and its my opinion only, is that I would have substituted Catts as opposed to maybe Maja. Certainly no scapegoating from me for stating what I think.
