Last time out Sunderland drew with Fleetwood and Lincoln beat Peterborough.
The Black Cats welcome Lincoln City to the Stadium of Light, for the first-time ever, on Saturday. The two sides have only met each other on nine occasions in their history. Before this season, their last meeting was back in January 1999, when a Martin Scott goal gave the Lads a 1-0 victory at Sincil Bank.
The Imps have beaten Peterborough and Ipswich Town in their last two home games and will be in confident mood having beaten Sunderland last year.
    Phil Parkinson:
"Laurens (De Bock) has gone back, he wants to go back to Belgium. Leeds had the option to call him back, and I think it’s more a personal thing for Laurens that he wants to go back home.”
“As far as we are concerned, it’s more wages that we can utilise in the window. Luke (O’Nien) can play in that left wingback role because he is two-footed, and Conor McLaughlin can play on the right.
“Lynden Gooch can play wingback as well, but that now becomes an area that we are looking at – we don’t want to leave ourselves light in any area.”
“I don’t want to be watching training and worrying about what we are going to do if someone gets injured, I want to make sure that we have cover in all areas.”
“I think there is a renewed spirit in the camp and the lads are showing the character that is required to get results.”
    Michael Appleton:
“I felt we needed to switch the play a bit quicker. Michael has done brilliant for us with his experience and steel in the middle of the park.”
“But Jorge (Grant) has the ability to switch the play which I think we needed to do in the second half. We then brought big John (Akinde) on to try and rough them up a bit, which he did.”
“The sending off definitely helped us and we got a bit of luck with the deflection for Tyler’s goal, but we created umpteen opportunities, their keeper (Christy Pym) had a good day and the post stopped us.”
“If that free-kick had been in the 20th minute, I wonder if he would have scored, but he knew that it was one of the last kicks of the game and concentration levels have to be ultra-high. You also need the technique to do it. As soon as it left his foot I knew it was a goal.”

    My two pence:
After the last few games the team seem to be playing better, creating more chances and just need to start converting them into goals. Lincoln beat 10 man Peterborough on New Year’s Day but I think we will win this one.
My guess is a 2-0 home win

    Ha’way the Lads

not been posting due to the dire performances, got my first chance in a while to watch a game (the dragon got one of those amazon fire things) and have to say i was pleasantly surprised and saw enough for me to think our win was not going to be a one off.
could it be the return of gooch, maybe?...have to say he was all over the pitch, not only getting to the ball but holding it up well, very industrious i thought.
the back four really had little to do so no way to 'judge' them on that game, if that was the norm for dobson i fail to see what he brings to the team, power seemed to be taking on a 'henderson' type role, keeping it simple and trying to be there for a pass, pleased to see a lot of forward passing as well.

so, going off that, i feel that the team as it is will start to pick up wins and i am sticking my neck out and expect another three points off lincoln.

    HA'WAY THE LADS

    MACKEMS ATTACKEM

    Bollòcks, I've voted home win.
Resisted the urge to try and predict results out of desperation regards superstitious nonsense of late but surely we have enough about us now. ?
