Accrington win was massive. Not just for the 3 points, it’s taken the lads back down from Wembley to the bread and butter and kept its flowing along. I said initially even a draw would have been solid enough down there, a win was fantastic and put the focus straight back where we needed it, on the league. Can’t see Peterborough slipping tomorrow against a really poor Rochdale but Shrews away is a tough one for Hull.
Rochdale beat Lincoln the other week, desperate for the points, may pull it out of the bag who knows ? Lots of things seem to be going for us at present.
You never know mate, and Peterborough have had a little wobble. Would be huge for us to get above them before we play them, put all the pressure on them to come at us.
Sounds like they've got a lot of injury problems. If we get an early goal, this could be a tonking https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...ers-ahead-of-crucial-sunderland-clash-3171529
Appleton seems to be attempting to lower expectations on his players to try to raise them on ours and hope we crack under the pressure. Should hopefully have the opposite effect. Weird strategy from him.
He’s called it all wrong. There’s absolutely no pressure on us yet. The pressure comes when we hit the top 2 and need to stay there. Right now we are serene as ****.
https://forums.vitalfootball.co.uk/threads/score-predictions-v-sunderland.114117/ Well their fans seem to think we will hammer them. I don’t like that lol
Although our last 2 performances haven't exactly been inspiring we got decent results. I see no reason not to remain in confident mode. 2-0 to us
Pressure was being 9th at Christmas, going to Wembley on the back of endless defeats, losing Hume, Wright, Jones, O'Brien, etc .... ... actually having the points and being where you want to be isn't pressure. Lincoln are under pressure because they've lost their form and momentum, one win in the last five games doesn't take the pressure off.
Great thread as always RTB., and some great points being made on here, and of course 3 more points will be very welcome, On the opposition I was quite impressed with them when they played us last, and their center backs looked the part, even so I think we will take some stopping now, and our bench it must frighten the hell out of the opposition. If LJ keeps orchestrating the squad the way he has so far, I think we are verging on the unstoppable. OaU.
Spot on mate. While the lads are sat in and around expectation, the pressure isn’t there. You come under pressure when you’re failing, underachieving. We are right where we need to be and when you are doing that, or more, life comes easy.
Every match seems like Goundhog day at the moment. Need to keep the momentum going Need another win. Still bloody nervous. We are nearly there. Teams around us are starting to crack. We just need another few wins to give ourselves some breathing space and the luxury of a little slip up. I think Hull look strong but Peterborough will crack (again). They seem to do it every year. Look the part then fall away. Just waiting for a challenger to come out of the crowd. Other teams seem to think we aren't playing that well. They might be right but what if this is our bad spell As for Saturday I'll go for another scrappy win. 2-0 Great thread again @RTB. If we go up you should collate them all into a book Be interesting seeing how we all reacted as the season panned out.
Dare I say it ? I've thought us and Hull top two. It's always that Sunderland thing nagging doubt, but we just seem to have got it too right now to fook it up. Like the Reid 2nd promotion.
I think this season is remarkably like 2006-7 under Keane Not great before Christmas then a storming second half of the season Although winning loads we were hovering around the playoffs and didn't hit the top until about half a dozen games to go That will do for me this time around We were also grinding out loads of scrappy wins.
We are still scoring goals and keeping clean sheets - thats what really matters. Lincoln's stats against Gillingham were very impressive - except for the fact that they lost 3-0 at home.
We will soon be leaving good players out of the matchday squad. Nice state to be in though at the end of the season.
