Just been reading that Ipswich's CBs are 35 years old.. probably still be quicker than our strikers.

We'll see but I know I'd rather we signed players their previous team wanted to keep instead of has beens.

I reckon Willis will play tonight.

We have a couple of weeks off from league football after today, so I reckon he plays tonight then gets injection later in the week. From what I can tell from Parky's comments, it's not the standard "pain killing" injection he needs, but a cortisone (legal) steroid injection,

I've had a couple of cortisone injections in my knee and for the first week or so they're so heavy and actually often worse than they were pre-injection, so he'll need a fortnight off after the injection most likely. The good news is, that if his injury is anything like mine were, that the injection can actually completely solve the problem. (I just had residual swelling around scar tissue from an old torn meniscus). Took a couple of injections 12 months apart but (touch wood) it hasn't come back 3 years on.

Dreading this tonight. Can’t see it ending well if I’m honest. Hope I’m wrong mind. Let’s hope Jurassic Parky doesn’t play 8 defensive players.

Prefer your Parkysaurus , wish I had thought of that one. <laugh> . I think the only change to his winning team will be Captain Power back in for Scowen.

I can't see O'Brien keeping his place, he struggled at the weekend I thought. Maguire back in for him I reckon. I hope Scowen keeps his place. I know he missed a couple but at least he gets himself in the box to miss them...

My thoughts on this game are more of an overall opinion on our season, we'll do well against the smaller teams more often than not over the course of the season with some draws and losses thrown in for good measure. However as soon as we play a promotion rival where we need to win we fall down. I think with the right manager we'd walk this league if we were brave enough on the ball. Draw or loss for me tonight.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but just thought that with all of the noise regarding getting our youth prospects into the team how would you setup your first 11 and the bench. For me I'd go with this

    GK - Burge

    RB - O'Nien
    CB - Willis
    CB - Wright
    LB - Hume

    CDM - Leadbitter
    CM - Scowen
    CM - Dan Neil

    RW - Gooch
    LW - Maguire

    ST - Grigg

    Subs :

    Patterson
    Flanagan
    Sanderson
    Power
    Embleton
    Diamond
    Graham

I think you have enough on the bench to change the game, with good experience in the first team. I'd be tempted to replace Graham with Benji but I'm not sold on him yet.

    GK - Burge
    RWB - Sanderson
    LWB - Hume
    CB - Flanagan
    CB - Willis
    CB - Wright
    CDM - Leadbitter
    CM - Scowen
    CM - O'Nien
    ST - Graham
    ST - Maguire

Graham is a bit ****, but overall I think he's better than Wyke. I'd like to see O'Nien in midfield because he can actually get forward a bit. Maguire can play up top but also play in behind and drift wide, bit inconsistent but overall he does more for me than Grigg has. Feel a bit bad for Gooch but can't really get him in there. The bench always annoys me when we have too many similar players. With everyone fit I'd go for:

    Matthews
    Xhemajli
    McLaughlin
    Gooch
    Wyke
    Diamond
    Grigg

So I can't get a place anywhere for Power, Dobson, Neil or Kimpioka, but that's partly because I haven't seen enough of Neil. If Grigg got chances and kept failing to score I'd quite quickly have Kimpioka involved (when fit). To me this does highlight that we have a decent enough squad mind, no excuse for not being top two.

Seems my thread got merged, more of a discussion of if you were to integrate the youth how you'd do it and how your squad would look like overall. We all know Parky isn't interested in youth.

I like that. However, given the defensive cover in the first 11 I dont think you need 2 replacements so you could stick Power in in place of one of them.

Aye, could be right. I just like having a centre back cover on the bench and a full back. I suppose McLaughlin can cover both so could just have him, giving us a CM on the bench and if there's more injuries at the back just go to a back 4. I'll be honest, when doing my bench I didn't realise that I didn't have a central midfielder amongst them!

    Burge

    Sanderson Willis Wright Hume

    Leadbitter

    O'Nien Dobson

    Maguire Grigg Gooch

Probably what I'd go with if I was manager. I'd let the midfield/attack ahead of Leadbitter be pretty fluid and get them to keep it on the deck.

If Maguire, Gooch and Hume play we will have 3 attacking players, nobody else counts
