I understand that - but it felt (and often feels with our signings) that we automatically place people in the ‘rubbish’ section when being sceptical. It’s fine being sceptical and I agree with you about the injury record of our players from Turkey - but we should also note that some of them have looked half decent when fit. I guess I’m just advocating for more a ‘wait and see’ mentality
Im glad the allams didnt get their way Why would we want them in control of such things when they completely threw their dummy out when they didnt get their own way **** em
The simple facts are - Allam pumped £100 million into the club, at least that's the amount we were in debt, he wanted the Council to give him the stadium, which they wouldn't and legally they probably couldn't, and why should they, its a community asset, Bruce got us relegated after a massive investment in the team and the fans told Allam to **** off because of the name change and at that stage he wanted his money back and took his bat home - the rest is history -
I think it's specifically the signings from feberbahce that get skepticism, but agree that Pedro worked out better than expected so Lincoln should have got more leeway. As plt said, being in a position we were already recruiting heavily for probably didn't help.
Acuns interest was/is getting us to the prem and selling us. Spending money on a training ground and/or the area around the stadium won't happen IMO. We neither have an owner or a council that are willing to spend on it. It's a shame because it's holding us back and has been now for quite a while. The Allam era was the golden opportunity for the development of the area, but again you had 2 parties with very different interests and long term wants. Should we have given the Allams the stadium for free ( or very close to ). I'm torn, as it would have seen things move forward and the area looking totally different then it does now and probably ever will do. But it's not that simple Unfortunately I think the whole area and the stadium will just get worse and worse as the years roll on, as we have a council that will never spend on it, a fair that will never move due to ££ for the council and an owner who isn't interested in spending around there either.
I always thought his aim would be to get us to the premier league so he can have the ego of owning a premier league club and getting his stunts bigger exposure , do you mean his aim is to sell us straight away if we ever make it back?
Why do you say that? IF he ever achieves that aim, then yes, I guess one day he'd sell us. But if the implication is that you think his interest is getting us to the PL then selling us as in reasonably quickly then I believe you are very wrong. He even stated that getting us to the PL would only be the start.
Why will we never get the chance again? Aren't you in danger of just perpetuating the same defeatist nonsense that proved incorrect years ago? We've done it 3 times, were there less than a decade ago and smaller clubs than us traditionally are currently in there.
So the plan is to add value and sell the club to someone else who will want to add further value and sell it. You get to a point when one of the ways to add value is to improve facilities, whether under this ownership or the next. I don't understand how we can conclude our owners will never do anything with the stadium when changing ownership is in inherent part of the presumed plan, so we just don't know.
Is it? The parks nice. It’s a big ask for any stadium development to change the fortunes of the streets around it
It could be way nicer Its basically just an empty field And then the giaaaaant car park thats basically empty 50 weeks if the year Liverpool fc would love to have as much space as we do
But what do you do with it that creates both money for the club and the council and doesn’t become a millstone around the neck of either?
