Was just going to post that pic, as I found it again when I went to message a Sunderland fan from work, from the last time I messaged him!
Yet city fans constantly predicting gloom, malevolently criticising players, scapegoating everyone and everything, transmitting anxiety around the MKM as soon as there's a setback and yes, mass exodus with 10 mins to go when it's still far from over - they never question themselves do they?
I said the other day away games are often better because it’s the die hard save there’s more singing etc. I was texting my uncle during the match, he’s been going 50 years, although lives in Middlesbrough now and doesn’t get to many matches. **** me tho! Exactly how you described a City fan above, all doom and gloom.
Living away, I go as many away as home and away is usually a far more positive and enjoyable experience, usually with lower expectations. If that transmits to the players too then there's your answer for the disparity in home and away form. There's a critical culture amongst our fanbase that's more pronounced than most clubs. It's like sometimes they pay for a ticket for the right to spout off and condemn. I get that football can be a release, but it seems overwhelmingly a negative one at times. If they paid for a ticket to actually support us like the majority of our away fans then we might just have an entirely different home environment.
One factor, in my experience, is at home fans that will sing are spread around all the 4 stands, whereas away they all come together in one area.
I think the amazing thing from the game, apart for our excellent performance, was how silent 40,000 fans can be. Watching on Tiger+, apart from at the beginning of the game, all you could hear was City fans, and great credit to all those that went. Overall, the whole team were excellent, and in particular, how the 2 fullbacks handled their wingers. Plus for the most part the midfield worked well, and Mazato is certainly a very good find, and this trio looks as if it is going to be our settled midfield going forward. Gelhardt as also be a great signing, hopefully we can make it permanent come the end of the season. Lincoln, once he got into the game, looks to be a good player as well. Certainly before the Norwich game if we had said would we settle for 4 points from these 2 games, we have taken it. We just need to push on now and get a positive result at Cardiff.
It got worse when the noisiest end of the east stand were split off and sent to the North Stand. I don’t how to fix that now tbh, but it certainly hurt the atmosphere
We went on a very long unbeaten away run under Nigel Pearson the year before Barmby was manager. Can't remember it being particularly good or bad under Nick.
Pick a fight!!! Just a reminder of what you posted .... -> "Good 1-0 win eh muppet" I hadn't even posted to you when you replied to me, I had been replying to CityZen in my OP, but you as usual dive in, then conveniently forget or rewrite history. Unbelievable. Idiot.
Given I was literally involved in a discussion right above you about whether Matazo is 'legs' in midfield it wasn't a big leap to think you were referencing me as I have Cityzen on ignore so your comment came directed at no one in particular. Why pick a fight with anyone? Why call anyone a muppet? Why not just enjoy the win? It's pathetic. I responded in kind because it's frankly pretty tiresome from you and I wasn't going to just nod it past as usual.
It's not more pronounced than most clubs, having visited many matches as a neutral, all clubs have it. 'Scunny fans are the worst supporters in football'. Awaywego, poster on Scunthorpe's Iron Bru.
told you before the game he should be embarrassed imagine a city fan saying this about another team Patrick Roberts will be licking his lips. it’s scary to imagine the joy Enzo Le Fee could have against him. stick to fifa you ****
Coyle keeps getting overwhelming amounts of flack on social media. Granted he had help at stages but I thought he did really well against “best loan signing in the champ ever” Le Fee
Only managed the second half yesterday, what a brilliant result....but, despite being 5th and immaculate home form, it was noticeable how many began to leave with 10 minutes to go.... not sure who the boo's are directed at but, it just people great win, great win....our away form is incredible !
