I'm not police, I'm not your pal that I'm aware and I expressed an opinion that could easily be incorrect. Anyway it's pedantic...
Off Sky “BRENTFORD THROUGH TO SECOND ROUND Brentford win their first game at their new stadium with a 4-3 penalty shootout win against Wycombe, sending them into the second round draw.” Just saying ...
4-2 on penalties according to BBC. Wycombe did well, a goal behind at half-time, man off on 48 mins but grabbed an equaliser and hung on to take it go penalties. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53962756
You can't judge a team on one cup game but the inability to create goal scoring chances has to be a concern even with a weakened team. I'm not sure on the strength of the Sunderland team yesterday but if that's the standard of football tipped to win the league there's definitely hope of making the play-offs. High energy performances might compensate for a glaring lack of skill at this level, unlike the Championship. To have any chance of promotion the number one target must be a decent goalscorer. The flops can move on in January.
I didn't see the game, so going from accounts of people that did, it seems little has changed. We are still playing the same system which going forward is not effective. Having only one shot on target is really telling, and most coaches would come out and say so. But Terry just trots out the same rhetoric, and concluded we won in a different way. Yes, to keep a clean sheet is a plus, but that was more due to their poor finishing than our good defending. Yes, we improved in the last 20 minutes, of cause we did, as Sunderland hadn't played for 6 months and we were playing up to a few weeks ago, so our fitness should be better.
Well in that case William hill owe me money cos I had that win and they had it as a draw...just saying
This headline / caption made me chuckle ..... "The best shots from Saturday's Carabao Cup Round One clash!" Well, there wasn't even 1 on target, so I guess they have to revert to the best of these kind of shots instead. I wonder, does the club's social media guy have such a sense of humour ... or am I reading too much into it?
