Hate to say it but pick a shyte lineup expect a shyte result. Its not rocket science really is it. Dajaku=1.5m, Roberts 11m, Jack Clarke 10m, Defoe = priceless.... All on the bench??? What a pathetic lineup and formation that was yesterday
Didn't think about an injury occurring in the 90 minutes? or maybe thought Roberts could cover at the back if necessary with his 6 foot 5 inch frame.
I think that decision will get more attention that it deserves and Flanagan is suddenly in danger of becoming the new John Stones simply by the fact we sold him without replacing him (albeit we have 4 Cs at the club)
Its a week on from the sacking and its obvious now that it had not been pre-planned, this is a worry. Combined with the final day of the window, where it looks like we missed out on our defensive targets, and the departure of Flanagan has left us desperately short at the back. The turmoil behind the scenes has tested the set-up far more than we had hoped, so maybe we will all just have to all cool down a bit, until its sorted out.
i honestly think, as it stands, stewart is too far away from his team mates so cannot expect to be an influence as such, evans and pritchard for all their experience are still 'new kids on the block' but should be taking the lead and helping the younger lads (i sometimes think our crowd can work against us at times, young lads facing that the first few times must be a bit overwhelmed). i am also hoping the recruitment side of things turns out as good as the summer, but those first niggling doubts have crept in for me...we needed a right back/right wing back yet the lad we got in is either not up to the task of first team/not up to speed or match fitness, injured or deemed not good enough to start or even get on from the bench, the rest are deemed not good enough to start apparently, i do not mind 'one for the future' but we really needed players to step in and give some of the lads a break (thinking gooch/neil/embo/doyle mainly)...if we have an agreement to take broadhead permanent i can see why they did not race out to get a like for like replacement, getting defoe back could yet prove to be a masterstroke but we need to get the service right to him and stewart.
Sorry still disagree, I believe the people he gave the authority to to buy players are a 100% to blame for the s hit we are in, not Short.
That was the first time in their history they e beaten us. A new low once again for the club. also I wonder how arby is feeling knowing a defensive midfielder was picked ahead of you. This club sometimes just defies belief in how it constantly wants to shoehorn players into different roles and then wonders why that player isnt performing. How many players this season are playing out of position FFS
WE ****ING HAD 6 ATTACKERS ON THE BENCH FFS. I’m all for giving a chance but Christ that’s an awful post match statement after that debacle!!
Should we be dipping into the free agent pool again? Roberto Carlos is playing again he was on TV last week could do a job I'm sure.
I’m guessing the plan was to move Gooch there if there were any injuries. Seems to be plan A with this kind of stuff. Surprised he’s not played in goal yet
Completely disgusted by yesterday's performance, everything was in place for a huge re-set after a topsy turvy week, and we blew it on so many levels. I also don't quite get this 'slagging off' thing for criticising a players performance, if a player has a **** game or doesn't give 100% they should be criticised. A lot of our squad have been terrible recently, and need a kick up the arse, I'd like to think Keane will do that as soon as he's watched our recent games. Something has to happen soon to re-ignite our season, or it'll fizzle out to nothing but a faint chance of playoffs.
I’m using this line again, but I’m an optimist and I fail to see positive from yesterday. I always look fir it. I don’t even see the disallowed goal as a positive. Normally I would. Even I’m in a bad place. Must be becoming “realistic”…..
all players are open to criticism and i think we have all vented occasionally at some players over the years, but i think people are on about those who only see a bad performance, sometimes when the player has had a decent game or sit and wait for that first/next mistake even if they have done well in numerous games, sometimes they make it so blatantly obvious they have a hatred for a certain player and will never admit that they had a good game or they will pick that player out even though the whole team had a bad day.
I have no issue with criticism of a players performance. Agree 100% with the bold but. But to label a player as the most overrated in the squad because he’s off form is another level of criticism. A player having a bad game despite having been superb early in the season doesn’t deserve that. Henderson got it. Now it’s Neil’s turn!
