Asoro showing right at the end why he needed to start the match. What has Fletcher actually done to warrant a start ahead of him 2 games running?

Dunno mate, people bark on about size but theres plenty of good players well under 6ft, Phillips, Rowell, Cummins to name some we've had, PoP Robson for older lads.
These slow 6ft 3 centre backs hate playing against smaller nippy lads. Look at our 3 planks Coleman insists with <doh>

1st Goal O'Shea should be clearing that...easily, 2nd one Kone should be getting.

We're in deep s hit now, surely we should be getting games under Asoros belt for the future, not some Boro reject.

It's not just the centre backs that are to blame though (even though they are awful) look how much space and time on the ball Villa's players have in those clips. Its the entire team not working hard enough. Those players should have been closed down much quicker.

Agreed we should be playing Maja and Asoro, haven’t seen anything from Fletcher to suggest he’s an improvement on them. No idea why Coleman is persisting with him.

Bottom! But I'm not a Warnockite!! He's a manager who can get the best out of average teams but, when things go wrong, they go **** shaped quickly almost everywhere he's been!

I think we could've put Ancellotti in charge or Mourinho/Guardiola etc and we'd still be where we are as it's nothing at all to do with the manager. There is a rot set in at the club. I don't personally think COleman is tactically inept - how many of the goals conceded last night were down to 3/5 at the back? none! First one - poor pass from Kone, Not enough effort to stop the cross from Kone, absolutely awful goalkeeping. Second one - floated corner drops 4 yards from goal at around 5 foot from the ground without a defender or keeper going near it. 3rd one not sure what it was but I'm certain that it wasn't down to formation.

Top that off with Fletcher ballsing up a one v one at 0-0 and there you have it - love to know how any of that is Coleman's fault - people say "4-4-2 will fix things" love to know what their crystal ball is as that 4-4-2 will have the same players in it that we currently have. Also the same keeper (none of which are any good)

McGeady and McManaman were awful last night far better as subs. Cattermole had a decent first hour then ran out of steam (annoying as hell) but still didn't give the ball away much.

I'd start LuaLua with Asoro on Saturday personally. Loads of pace to run at defences and chase balls in behind.

Or we could exclude him and the young ones for the rest of this season before they are mentally destroyed with constant defeat. Keep them for next year and hopefully start them off with a chance of experiencing victory.

Don’t expect us to win games in the first division
Many people wanted us to be relegated from the premiership so we could win game
Well that’s come right back to bite them in the arse
    What a load of idiots

No expectations , just thinking on the “chance” that a couple of wins could give them that feelgood factor and confidence.

Absolutely nothing! Still think confidence is a big issue - his touch in the first half when he went through on goal - a confident player at least gets a shot away - then again, that Joselu at the mags looks a similar quality! Wish we'd signed Mitrovic instead of him!!

Getting our own some game time to prepare them for next season is a good idea, and this should happen as soon as we are cut adrift, but of the bottom 6 three will survive and we still have a chance. As long as this is the case Coleman will probably stick with experience, and his game plan, even though it is too cautious for me, we need to win games now, not try and avoid defeat, with this set of defenders it is suicidal and just asking for trouble..

Wish we'd kept Mitrovic instead of Joselu!!

I like Rafa but he's dropped a bollock there he really has. I'd have loved it if he went on loan to you guys and banged them in, he's a bit of a nutter but I'll tell you this, there's no way on earth he would allow the players around him to not give 100%. He'd probably get himself sent off for punching them in the face though.

Aye he's a headcase alright but he's certainly good enough for this league and, as you say, has a "leader" quality about him which makes him push others. A lot like Cattermole used to for us and Tiote for you lot. Prone to a loss of temper but drove others on.

You certainly need some on the field, even if it is at the expense of some quality. Sunderland at the moment, the leaders are... Cattermole, O'Shea? The same players who many link with being the rotten core of the club years ago. I liked Cattermole and overall still think he's probably worth a place in your first team but he has gone from being a certain starter and leader to being an intermittent liability.

A goalie has to dominate his area.

Thas was abysmal goalkeeping for the first 2 goals.

Should've come for both of them!

Yes i know hes shyte as are the other 2.

Weve been blessed with good keepers over the years but id rather have Ian Hesford back the age he is now than them 3.

Give Max a try, he cant be worse, and from the little I have seen of him he looks a lot better.
