I don’t know if it is. Steele’s probably the worst keeper and he’s not the only one who wouldn’t get in anyone else’s team.
Grit, guts and determination get you promoted from our league. Wolves have a little more quality but I watched the 3rd best side today and they were rubbish - granted better than us but still awful! Can’t remember playing anyone this season and thinking “yeah they’re a good side” not once! Sad indictment of our plight Steele is awful mind! Him and Kone for the Grabban goal. As for the corner? Christ he’s 5’ 8” and stood from a floated cross 5 yards out. Awful from the defence and keeper again
League one here we come. Deserve it. Not the managers faults. They've not been perfect but nor is anybody we could afford. Anybody stood pointing their finger at the dugout as we plummet i pity your lack of understanding on the state of our club. Coleman may as well play Billy jones upfront and chuck Lee Camp in at center back, it still wouldn't have me blaming him for this state of this club.
Pity me then, and many others, he's tactically inept as has been shown to be in most of his appointments to date. Short wasn't at those clubs where he failed and neither was Gareth Bale.
But that comment about Gareth Bale illustrates perfectly what the problem is. A manager is only as good as the players that he has available. The players that are available to Coleman are either not good enough or don't care enough or both. Expecting him to come up with some stroke of tactical genius to counteract the inability of his players is beyond reason. Gone are the days of a Vic Buckingham or a Gustav Sebes introducing a radically different tactic. And even then, that kind of thinking only comes along very rarely.
He is poor tactically and isn't getting the most out of the players at his disposal. That combination results not only in us being poor, generally we aren't even competitive. Go on and defend him, its your choice and I respect it. For me he's a poor manager,
And who has got the best out of that set of players? Coleman probably isn't the greatest manager on earth and his insistence on playing 3 centre backs is frustrating (but most managers stick to their preferred formation) but he's doing better than Grayson and the problems weren't of Grayson's making either. Why do clubs change managers? Because It's easier to change a manager than an entire set of players. It's simple. We have a poor squad and we're not going to get a better one without investment. No manager is going to succeed under these circumstances.
We have a poor squad but its more than capable of being away from the relegation zone if the right tactics are applied. You dont need to be a tactical genius in this league with fancy formations. Managers like Warnock have been getting teams promoted for years at this level by playing 442 and having a team full of grafters. Hes doing it again now at Cardiff with very average players.
Yeah i agree he a kunt, but hes a kunt that doesnt make things harder than they need to be by overthinking a formation and sticking to basics. Shaun Dyches another fine example. Burnley have been relegated a few times over the years and kept bouncing straight back up first attempt by playing 442 week in week out. Look at how well theyre doing now and they still play 442 with a modest squad. Weve got decent wingers in our squad but we rarely have 2 playing at the same time with 2 strikers.
But that's the problem. We don't have grafters. Or not enough of them. We lack strength and speed. Coleman's tactics are a side issue, which is what I've been saying.
We lack strengh yes i agree with that but Asoro and LuaLua have plenty of pace to burn and both started on the bench last night against an aging John Terry. Its not rocket science working out what Villas weakness was. His tactics are inviting teams to attack us and he doesnt change it until the inevitable happens. Look at our comeback against City a month or so ago once we changed to 442. Id rather get beat 4-3 and have a go from the off set than keep getting hammered 2 or 3 nil by playing the first half negatively and changing it when its too late.
It's maybe because Catts is a leader (we need one, and we're even worse without him) and the Honeymonster is a dwarf (a weak one)
Out of interest where do the Warnockites think we’d be in the league if he’d replaced Grayson? I could do with a laugh.
I agree with you about Terry and last night, but I can't help but feel that we would have got a pasting off Villa anyway, though. I also agree about having a go rather than the negative starts, but Grayson was having a go and it wasn't getting us anywhere whereas we've picked up a few more points under Coleman. Either way, I don't think anyone was ever going to do any better, overall, with this squad and this budget.
