That was Roeder who got West Ham relegated. Pardew did badly at Charlton and because of that I wasn't too keen on his appointment but I'd say he has proven me wrong so far, Di Canio could as well, just personally think it's a disaster waiting to happen.

    Slightly off-topic,

Why didn't Di Canio get carded for intentional handball?

My bad. But apart from a good run in the FA Cup, he wasn't exaclty a success in league terms though was he?

Pardew is a solid, if unspectacular manager. He is also quite a twit imo.

He only had one full season there in the PL and finished 9th after getting them promoted, higher than Newcastle finished in the first year up with him in control for most of the season.

Agreed on him being a solid if unspectacular manager, but its probably what we've needed after the years of circus around certain other managers.

Regardless of Di Canio politics I think he will do a good job at Sunderland.
He has a strong passion for football and he will get that over to his players.

Like when you were relegated though, their team wasn't bad. Good season back up, then starts to struggle. Sound familiar?
