The article does stink of naughty journalism to me, so I would not pass judgement on this without being privvy to all the facts..
The real story here is Saha is on £40k a week!!! As has already been said this is twisting of the facts by the media imo - note the use of "equivalent of" and "pro rata". I would imagine this was a one-off job (very likely the IIA deal) where it was agreed he would be paid x amount if the deal completed successfully. He's not actually being paid £40k per week. To give an example, I went to St Lucia with my family recently and when we got to the airport there was a guy who offered to take our bags from the luggage claim to the cab... turned out it was a 30 second walk but we gave him about a fiver for it. PRO RATA that's £600 per hour. Why is this guy raking in £25k a week to lift some bags?!?! Outrage!! Obviously, that's on a completely different scale, and granted the amount Milliband got is large, but in the world of Premier League football..? Not really tbh.
