Oh dear My view, is that I'm willing to accept the sale of Jordan Pickford, provided we start commanding huge transfer fees like other teams seem to be pull in. I don't agree with much of what David Moyes says, but I do agree with the harsh reality, that a club our size might have to cash in on certain assets from time to time, that we don't want to let go. Providing it can finance 3 or 4 players to rebuild the squad to come back stronger, then I'm all for it. We would need to be talking 25m+, for Jordan Pickford, for me to find this acceptable. This is a model that Southampton have adopted for years, and always have a stream of talent coming through. They have sold Walcott, Oxlade-Chamberlain and Gareth Bale, just to name a few and have always come back stronger. In fairness to us, it looks like we have some of the best talent in the country emerging and finally we are seeing the genuine emergence of talent through our academy system. It's a sign that our academy is working, and if we could bring in 25m every year through the academy then we should find ourselves in a very fortunate position. We have been held back for years, with our incompetence in making profit on players that we bring into the club. This could be a genuine source of huge revenue being generated. Yes, we lose Pickford. We will always lose others. With the amount of players coming through the ranks, we won't lose them all and we will still be fortunate to watch our homegrowns coming through and gracing the turf at the SOL. This will only work if Ellis is willing to reinvest the money into the playing squad, of course.
