Thank you kindly fella. We all knew it would be sold out. We tend to sell 90% of tickets we're given.

Don't be so hard on your own fans, you're a two team city. Rugby League is a big part of your area. Sunderland compete with Newcastle for fans true, but that area of the country is definitely a football first region.

The Sunderland sell out is even more of an achievement as they were buying the tickets for the quarter finals not knowing who out of ourselves and Brighton they would be be playing although Brighton were going to charge a fiver extra (£25).

As I said previously Imused to watch the invading hordes from Sunderland and elsewhere and think one day we could be like that with a bit of success. However, as you say we have missed the boat. The best chance we had of doing it was the 1960s, good crowds, fantastic stadium but not enough ambition.
Places like Sunderland have an advantage as they are part of the fabric of the city. You don't see many, if any, walking around up there with the kits of other clubs. The local media bull up the local team whilst ours treat if with indifference but get excited about rugby league. Anyone like East Hull White phoning in would get short shrift instead of being indulged by Gollum and co because he is also a Rovers fan. (My email suggesting it would have been a more appropriate name if he had pressed the key under the W wasn't read out for some reason). Last night was a prime example of the crapness of the local media. City have just won 4-0 away and reached the quarter finals of the FA Cup and what did Gwillam Lloyd lead with on Sportstalk? Bradford Bulls getting a points deduction.
Last time we were in the PL and had a pretty important gamevagainst Sunderland their local paper ran a piece calling for the team to put in a Herculean effort and the fans to roar them to success. It was worthy of the speech before the battle of Agincourt in Shakespeare's Henry V. What did we have? A few rather disinterested lines and the usual patronising guff from Humberside Police about everyone behaving themselves or else.

I've just rung the ticket office and gave my card details down the blower.

They're sticking my tickets in the post tomorrow.

    Easy as that mate.

I am a realist and know crowds go up and down. i saw us at your place as one of about 60 City fans in 1972 in front of 11,000. Six months later you were beating Leeds at Wembley. The season before I had seen us beat you at Roker Park 1-0 in front of 17,000 and only made it away in one piece by the skin of our teeth. A couple of seasons later you brought about 15,000 down to our spot.

We haven't been doing well for the last 3 seasons but we still average just above 40,000 & the first 2 seasons in the prem under Roy Keane we average 45,000. if one day we get a good team we will start selling out all the time.

If you had looked at the City website you would have seen that the answer to that is no. Rang up though you can do it online.

Would have to disagree with you here, for starters they have Nissan which is a big employer in the area and lets not forget they do not have two Super League teams competing for fans. I for one am happy that we don't get the crowds we used to get the last time we where in the PL, I can actually get a ticket for the home games when I am on leave. It was impossible in 2008. We still seem to be a near sellout at the KC and that is not going to improve till it gets extended( which will not happen anytime soon, until Allam and the council get round a table ( We live in hope))

Too many long words in that sentence, well one actually, for our Paddy.

He is fond of an afternoon tipple and it often sends him a bit squiffy.

Judging by that post I reckon he's on the cooking sherry today but it could be anything.

I can't even rule out Meths.

Of course it was a poor attendance but it was a early kick off on tv, we just sold out for wembley & it was our 8th home game already in 2014. teams like hull only played about 3 home games.

    As I suspected.

It's mentholated spirit today and neat by the looks of it.

He doesn't even bother putting a dash of Kia Ora in it anymore.

What a state to be in eh?

Great news then. 3 sides Hull City and 1 full of mackems. A proper cup game hopefully now.

Can the mackems keep 11 playets on the pitch this time ???? :emoticon-0107-sweat

I think Nissan employ about 4,500. So, even if they all went to watch Sunderland, which is unlikely, it doesn't explain why they average about 16,000 more than us in a slightly smaller city.

Having 2 rugby clubs didn't affect crowds in Carter's day or the mid sixties.

Still, as younsaid about being able to get tickets, every cloud has a silver lining.:emoticon-0102-bigsm

The thought of the noise one end full of Mackems will generate compared to 3 sides of City is worrying though.
