Okay so we had a go at Elland Road. That to me was a free hit, have a go give it a whirl and see what happens. At least Dids + Garner scored. What a difference having a front partnership that works has. Always gives you a chance. Our backline however is being a little on the generous side, Webster and Smith cannot get fit soon enough in my book. While not the biggest Tommy Smith fan I think he's better than some of what we have there. Spence would be far better at RB in my opinion also. Hopefully get that balanced back 4 sooner rather than later..... will help massively. As for Sunderland, well they've started horrifically. I had them down as finishing 15th. A club with many a talented player, however confidence issues / they are on a very bad run. Have a feeling this may be a 1-1 draw. We're yet to draw a game, they'll be keen to avoid defeat and take something back with then. Hope for more though. I'd imagine we'll stick with 4-4-2. Surely cannot keep swapping system, did 90 at Leeds with that. Very pleased for Adeyemi to get 90 in his legs. Would be surprised to see him play 90 again Tuesday, surely he'll be shattered. Perhaps Celina in place to Nydam will be the only change, with Nydam coming on for Adeyemi later. COYB. Who is going?
Mackem in peace please log in to view this image How will you lot line up on Tuesday? Ipswich Town Bialkowski, Iorfa, Spence, Chambers, Knudsen, Ward, Adeyemi, Skuse, Nydam, McGoldrick, Garner Subs from Gerken, Waghorn, Celina, Connolly, Sears, Kenlock, Woolfenden Injured Dozell, Webster Is Waghorn coming back from an injury or just out of favour? Our home form is abysmal but we do seem to play better away (well - apart from Barnsley). I'll be happy with a draw as we only have 1 fit striker (Vaughan) available at the moment. Good luck on Tuesday p.s Can we have Mick Mac back
I can see both sides being tight and not wanting to lose, we're starting to leak goals again and I think Mick will revert to type and shore us up. I'll go for a bore 0-0 draw
p.s Can we have Mick Mac back please log in to view this image We will happily bundle him into the boot of your team coach after the game!
I'm not happy to put up with this dire boring brand of 1 dimensional hoofball any longer, and judging by the attendances nor are the majority of Town fans! The sooner he makes way for a modern thinking manager who sets out to win games, rather than not lose them, the better it will be! we need entertainment for our buck FFS!! Is this too much to ask?
It's interesting to read that so many other teams in our league would happily have him, as well as all the pundits. Maybe we're all just dillisional and he really is the messiah
I was a huge advocate for Mick when he first joined and I remember all the big ding dongs that Spanish and I had over it at the time! He was perfect in that situation of fire fighting and grinding out the points we needed to survive, That's all very well short to mid term but we are crying out for someone new who has a progressive vision and plan on how to take us forward, This is what the huge majority of Townies all want.
To be fair we had a crap season last season but apart from that Mick is doing about as well as anybody could with zero resources. There is so much more money in the Championship now than ten or even five years ago. Rather than make a switch of manager I'd like to see Mick backed properly in the next two transfer windows and for us to start paying proper wages to attract the best talent and then we will see some progress.
We will never get any proper investment and by that I mean on the same level as Derby, Leeds, Sheff Weds et al while we have the current owner at the helm. These clubs do not have the benefits of Parachute payments either so that cant be used as an exuse!
Just been reading some comments from the Sunderland lads on their board and they aren't confident about getting anything tonight!
It's that age old argument again. Style vs results vs money.... We've had a positive start, more performances like the one against Leeds and I can live with that. 2-0
I just can't see us winning at all...Sunderland will surely climb up the table soon ( i know this is an unforgiving league, and no one has the right to do well). Will be a tough physical game, with not a lot of chances. Hopefully Celina can finally start a game, and i'll also start Waghorn and give McG and Garner a rest (maybe finally play Sears up top too)
