If we get this lad Whickham will be gone within the window or at the end of the season as it will be a massive kick in the teeth for the lad who in my opinion has done nothing wrong (so far) when he has played.
This ****er just wont go away. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...derland-close-Danny-Graham.html#ixzz2HKlKGix5 Sunderland are closing in on a £4milllion-plus move for Swansea striker Danny Graham, as exclusively revealed in Sportsmail last week. A deal could have been completed over the weekend but for Swansea being held up in their efforts to sign Kenwyne Jones as replacement. Swansea still hope to reach an agreement with Stoke for Jones. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...Danny-Graham-to-Sunderland-for-4-million.html Martin O'Neill hoping to lure Swansea City striker Danny Graham to Sunderland for £4 million Sunderland are hoping to sign Swansea striker Danny Graham this week as Martin O’Neill looks to add another attacking dimension to his side. Wanted: Danny Graham, after scoring for Swansea against Arsenal, could be on his way to Sunderland Photo: By Luke Edwards 11:00PM GMT 07 Jan 2013 Graham has scored three goals in his last three appearances for Swansea, including their equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the FA Cup last weekend, but has been replaced as the club’s main striker by Spanish import Michu. The 27 year-old has previously aired his frustration at being asked to spend so much time on the bench after scoring 14 goals in his first season in the top flight. That has been noted by O’Neill, who hopes to persuade Swansea manager Michael Laudrup to part with the striker with an official bid expected in the next 24 hours. Sunderland are willing to offer around £4 million for Graham and hope to be able to bring him back to his native North East to discuss personal terms this week. Although Steven Fletcher has been a success on Wearside following his £12  million summer move from Wolverhampton Wanderers, O’Neill wants more competition for places in attack. Fletcher has mainly played as a lone striker with Stephane Sessegnon given a free role behind him, but O’Neill feels Graham could be an ideal strike partner for the Scotland international. Sunderland signed Louis Saha on a free transfer in the summer, but he has failed to score in 11 appearances, while teenager Connor Wickham remains a work in progress on the training ground according to O’Neill. Laudrup hinted on Sunday that Graham’s future would be his to decide. “He is playing well and is important for us because he is scoring goals, but let’s see what he says,” said Laudrup. “I am going to speak to all players who are not playing regularly.” Sunderland may face competition from neighbours Newcastle for Graham as their manager, Alan Pardew, is also an admirer. Graham has always maintained he would like return to his native North East having begun his career with Chester-le-Street, before joining Middlesbrough’s academy. Despite failing to establish himself in Middlesbrough’s first team, Graham has worked his way back up to the top level following successful spells at Carlisle United and Watford. Tell you how much I don't want Graham the Craa. I'd sooner have ****ing Kenwyne back? I for one wont support this mag ****er if he gets a place or shoves out Wickham.
If he shoves out Wickham then Marty has made the major of major **** ups, I'm convinced Wickham is going to be a big star in the premier league and I want to see him achieve that at our club.
Really don't think this would be a good move, I actually think he is a decent player but if he does not start scoring right away his mag status will come to the fore and it will be very difficult for him. Its a headache MON simply does not need to give himself. I will support him if he comes and give him a chance but would much rather have CW up top with Fletch, the lad needs games to progress.
What I will say is that with us selling Campbell and loaning out Ji Dong-Won, we are going to be very short on the striker front if we don't get someone in, and this lad has a far better premiership scoring record than both of the aforementioned players..
Although graham is not my first choice there will still be room for fletcher , wickham, graham and if MON likes sess.I feel Saha will go and also Campbell.together with ji on loan.it will give us more options upfront.
I'm sure there was a quote from Laudrup yesterday basically saying he's not for sale!! As I said earlier - the only reason this would be good is for the craic from NMG
I can't see why Swansea would sell him. Who are they going to get with the £4m to replace him? It's not like the mags losing Carroll, but having £35m to spunk up the wall.
It seems this rumour has you guys as mystified as us. It seems we are happy to sell a player we helped develop from Championship into a proven Prem striker for what we paid for him, to a team where he is not guaranteed to be 1st choice striker (the only reason DG is apparently wanting to leave!). Time will tell, but our chairman isn't usually one to miss a trick on transfers/values and we all know it's silly season in the press/forums/twatter (I know people still convinced we are signing David Villa on loan!!)
Mendonca's family lived about half a mile away from me in 1990, and he is the most hated northerner ever !, after the 3 goals he scored in the play off final. I cannot believe someone from Sunderland would do that.
Clives family lived round Hylton Castle club when I was a youth mate we used to play footy on the bussy field, he got some stick for those goals mind but the majority of it good natured, plus he is a decent lad and his sisters are mental and rock hard.
Decent player imo, could improve the squad, if ji and campbell are out then i see the business sense, rather see him come off the bench than saha! 'I'm hiding now'
I hope the black & ****e **** gets crocked so the deal will be off. Why the **** would we want to sign a ****stain that hates us?
Purely coz of mart matey, pure quality, he's dealt with it before, rather graham than ji or campbell, rather a-n-other over graham but hey-ho
Sorry to appear ignorant here but has Graham said something about hating us etc or is it just that he supported the mags as a kid? Also regarding Clive Mendonca some of you (me included) complain that Chopra was a so and so for deliberately missing against the mags - yet Clive Mendonca acts professionally and puts his chances away and he is a traitor etc - surely you cannot have it both ways. Personally I think that it all depends on the individual (without knowing his character [see question above]), if Graham has the Mendonca mentality then fine but if its the Chopra one then no way pedro
