Micheal Graham, a Sunderland writer who I dislike summed it up in one sentence. he said "I don’t know if he was blaming fans but he was definitely talking down to us" He's taking the piss mate. Only person who's failing the club is Poyet with his cowardly negative tactics. I'm in the sack him camp yet but I wouldn't fussed if he walked. Saying this yesterday fella. If he isn't willing to give Giacc and Alvarez the game time to adapt they're two wasted players in the squad, wage cloggers. We've had chance to shift Giacc numerous times so what does Gus actually want with the lad?
Valid enough point, mate. It's worth remembering that last season we went from October to the beginning of April with only one week out of the bottom three. True, we started off with one point from our first seven games, so he was never going to get us out of the bottom three much before Xmas. But the point is, without that surge at the end of the season, he hardly got us out of it at all. In seven months.
It seems a foreign thing doesn't it, to point fingers at people when your back's up against the wall. Well foreign and Pardew. I think in this case, he should have come out and said, 'We keep going, we try harder for our fans, the club needs to do better as a whole'. That's all you need to give the media, unless you have an ulterior motive, or are taking underhand digs at somebody/something. He chats too much. Fergie never gave the media anything, he treated them like pigeons, chucking them scraps, that's all anybody needs to do.
We need a P.R.O. and Gus needs to shut it and concentrate on the coaching, that is his job if he doesn't like it he can move on.
Your opinion is as valid as anyone else's so stay sat proudly on that horse Exeter. Personally, I think o'Shea is a decent captain. In between the groaning on Saturday I could hear him issuing orders and geeing players up. As for the others we should have upto 11 skippers on the pitch anyhow. Captains only really there for heads and tails for me. Appreciate not all players will do that side of the job but Catts certainly does regardless of whether or not he has the armband.
Keep posting EB! The affliction cast upon you to be a mackem fan entitles you to an opinion as valid as anyone else's!
But you need context around that incident - it was in the last 5 minutes, we had played with 10 men for 20 odd minutes and they had to defend against a mobile Fulham team and they were trying to break in that last 15 minutes ( and before you cry foul I seem to remember that's when Defoe had his half chances so we weren't just camped out in our half ). We had pulled everyone back for that corner as we didn't have the luxury of leaving a man up following 'Dumb and Dumber's' sending off - Vito rushed to the edge of the box ( took him max 2 seconds ? ) and you think the players would have made 4 times the distance he covered in that time to be there for the hoof? Was never going to happen. As I said on another thread I have sympathy with your point about Giacc and Ricky BUT you've said yourself they're both getting to terms with the league, additionally Giacc is coming back from injury. What makes you so sure he could have started or that Gus wasn't planning to bring one or both on to help them in their adjustment? That went out the window with Rodwell's stupidity. Bridcutt is fast becoming a scapegoat for a lack of movement around of him - golden rule for players of his ilk is win it and play it easy, unfortunately his only easy option is backward to start again. And doesn't Buckley deserves the same sympathy you give Alvarez - he needs time to adjust having stepped up from a lower league. Has he got what it takes? I suspect not but I'm willing to back him for a while yet. We need a goal, we need to make some noise and we need to stand together. Oh, and Gus - shut up, daft comments and should know better.
It's simple for me. You play your best 11 week in week out and you have to accommodate your best players into the team.
Thanks you. I also appreciate that the many that actually go to the games these days have a better idea of what's wrong on the pitch than a 'going on 60' armchair supporter. It seems sensible to have a captain in the centre of the pitch controlling the game and I feel that it takes an exceptional person to captain a team and defend. Some of the passion drained out of football when they made everyone sit down, how many fans today have experienced what it was like in the Fulwell end when it rocked.....happy days
Balls to that incident, We push out slowly every game we play, even when one player makes the effort to trigger a break and receives the ball, the rest of the team still stroll out and fail to support, We can't even support a patient attack let alone a quick break. Newcastle game aside it hapens virtually everytime the keeper collects.
**** Poyet hes a gobshite, i could do better mesell, at least i could motivate the lazy ****ers, how can we do so well against the top teams and ****e with the rest, i know already [ ooohhh look at me im on tv, ] **** em time for a change
