I heard the Hull owner's interview on the radio last night. He does sound a bit ego-maniacal.

Lost count of how many times he said "ITS MY CLUB" - I'm no Hull fan but that started to wind me up. Doesn't he know that owners come and go but fans are there for ever?!

Didnt give a sh** for anyone elses view's and presented no sense of perspective. It was all about the bottom line.

Ashley has the advantage of living nowhere near Newcastle but I believe this fella has lived in, or around, Hull fr decades.

Is he ****ting in his own nest?

Nah, our ground is council owned.

And the SMC run the management of it.

So the council own it and have 2 tenants?

Did they build it or take possession at some point?

Sorry for all the questions but this is all a bit baffling.

The bloke, as I've said, reminds me so much of Ken Bates who I have to see every now and again.

He appears to be off his nut, never listens to what you say but somehow gets his own way and is actually as sharp as a cuthroat.

Really surprised to hear that. I hadn't heard of the guy before yesterday and was assuming he was another foreign owner looking to expand the brand around Asia, closer to home. His reference to the issues at Cardiff re-inforced that perception I guess. He also said that the term "City" meant nothing to him at all or anyone else abroad.

If he is a local then personally I think thats far worse. No sense of community!!

So the council own it and have 2 tenants? Yes us & the RL team

Did they build it or take possession at some point? The council built it but i'm not sure who took charge of it initially. It's the SMC now.

He does sound like Ken Bates, or even Peter Risdale.

I suppose I would..After all, when they named the stadium, which to this day I don't agree with, I was outside the stadium calling Murray and Co a bunch of know nowt tossers who haven't got a clue..

They could change our stadium name to ' the stadium of artistic merit ' or 'stadium of sublime parallel avantgard neoclassism' I wouldn't care, but them up the road would take the Arthur bliss.

I still think the ground should be renamed 'Wearmouth Stadium' in honour of the miners who worked under there..

Newcastle don't own the land their monstrosity is built on.

The stadium is worthless as it would cost 10 times it's intrinsic value to be demolished ....... that's why, in my opinion, Ashley can't find a buyer.

They have no valid reason to criticise a 'club owned' modern stadium with a possible capacity greater than their own.

I agree mate and I'd back that on an emotional level, my dad having been killed by a lifetime underground.

However, if Short said he could sell the name and bring in Rose, Evans and Welbeck in exchange for calling it New Trafford I'd consider it :emoticon-0105-wink:

Here's the interview, 20 minutes of pure comic genius he makes Joe Kinnear look intelligent.
    It's the 3rd video down.

I think most fans wouldn't mind a name change if it took the club forward. No one really says "Sunderland association" they just say "Sunderland". It's different for Newcastle, I think we're just a very sentimental bunch. Not many fans would go for "Newcastle magpies", we like our tradition and we like things to stay the same. <laugh>

Sure does - I'm glad that Ellis prefers to keep a low profile. This bloke is so full of himself - "I'm far too busy to talk about nonsense" but that's all he talks about.
Just imagine if Ellis came out with the Arthur Scargill stuff here - he'd get lynched. ;)
