Arse starting to twitch like a trouts mouth now as the anticipation builds, but for some reason, I feel the same as I did when we played Sheff Wed on both occasions...quietly confident ...which is odd for me having witnessed so many capitulations at Wembley in the past....Not this time tho...Ha'way the lads.
It HAS to be this time. We've never had a better chance. We are in great form, we have a manager who knows how to win games and players who know how to stand up like men. Wycombe are a good side, they play differently to us, but they are effective. I'm confident that if we play our own game, we will win.
If Broadband is fit I would play him at the start. Play him for as long as he’s able to. What I don’t want is for him to come on as a sub late on and if we go into extra time, suddenly to sit down with his recurring injury leaving us with 10 men.
I reckon AN will tweek this team for this game... I can see him playing 2 up front. Stewart and Broadhead are prolific together and will cause their defence all kinds of trouble. Lets see.
Don’t you get extra subs at extra time anyhow? Thought I read that somewhere but can’t find it. (Although I do agree)
yes one extra sub in extra time. which means if only used two in normal time you get two in extra time.
We have a fully fit squad . https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...y-off-final-against-wycombe-wanderers-3700187
I dont envy Neil's job of picking a team for Saturday now everybody is fit again. Nobody deserves to be dropped, but at the same time how can we leave Broadhead and Winnie on the bench?
Brilliant news that everyone is fit. If we all picked a starting 11 and the subs, we would probably come up with a different one each and multiple ways of lining up. Wycombe won't have a clue till the game starts
Absolutely. Assuming he goes with the same starting XI then you'd assume Dajaku, Winchester Xhemajli and possibly McGeady don't make the bench Depends on how many defensive options he wants amongst the subs
might be on my own here but i think (including willis) we have defenders capable of moving into the championship and more than holding their own, although a couple of more added to the squad would not go amiss. midfield is capable of playing around the opposition (even the arsenal game at 3-1 down i thought we could get back into it) and at speed, although we would have liked to see this more often, AN sets his team out to their strengths so at times the long ball has been needed, some 'extra options' would be needed. if we can get broadhead in permanent that will be two strikers who can both cause different problems for teams, back-ups sorely needed though as if one or the other is out injured we are very much restricted in how we play. overall i feel we have a very good league one squad that should, at least, hold it's own in the championship and with the 'extra options' we should have enough to make sure we do not drop straight back down and hopefully be strong enough to start a steady push for the premiership. also, it just feels damn good to finally have a choice of team rather than wondering which player(s) is going to be shoe-horned into some 'alien' position.
I agree mate, although the defence would definitely need sorting. Batth and Wright were both proven in the Championship before they came to us but both dropped down a league to prolong their careers after finding game time for their respective clubs limited. I dont think Willis will ever play to the same level again after such horrific injuries and the lengh of time he's been away from the game.
