Here's a thought, not a great thought but I'm tired after a long day yesterday and half watching the Spurs game. The gardeners here, for certain work, wear thin high-grip neoprene gloves, I supply them and get flak if they're not a high enough quality. I noticed, yesterday, that Mukiele was doing a 'quick-switch' routine with the ball boys who were drying his balls. (No comments please @becs ) As football players are allowed to wear gloves I wondered if there are any regulations governing what can be worn. 2 + 2 =
The post match interviews would be a laugh "Unfortunately the Sunderland manager is unavailable for comment ... ... we've had reports he's kicking a hole through the officials dressing room door."
It’s not a bad team at all I just hate 3/5 at the back personally. It’s ****e negative football but defo something you could deploy when you’re expecting to have little of the ball against a better team. You’re basically playing another defender so you end up a body light in midfield areas and better teams just double up and pass around you in triangles, play right through the midfield then you end up having to sit deep and play terrorball. If Chelsea field the same Xl they put out at Forest I wouldn’t want us to sit deep and invite them on, the midfield 3 they had out was Gusto, Lavia and Santos. Acheampong and Chalobah at CB. Will be a very difficult game at their place but if they’re missing the likes of Palmer, Caicedo, Fernandez etc we should be looking to go man for man with them imo not pin ourselves deep and let them play. They play Ajax a few days beforehand too so they’ll likely be rotating for us
So after a good performance at home and another clean sheet, does Reinildo come back into the side and if so, who drops out to make way?
I can see it being a back five with him on the left and Hume on the right ... ... harsh to drop any of that defence tbh.
I can see your point and I do admit that we've looked more solid and maybe more threatening at times going forward but from what's been said previously RLB seems to prefer a back 4
If I am honest... other than the first 20 mins, we did not play very well. Wolves were rubbish. Then, if we can win playing badly... what might happen when we play well?
Mental to me that Hume has probably been our “worst” regular starter defender after 8 games if we even have one. Favourable fixtures or not we’ve got the joint 2nd best defensive record in the league as it stands alongside City, behind only Arsenal so harsh to label any of them as the worst. A testament to the trajectory of the club and the transfer business we’ve done. He will get better as the season goes on though undoubtedly, still a massive step up in quality for him but he has got the ability. And Geertruijda hasn’t even started yet.
Its a difficult one. Does Hume deserve to be left out. In my opinion, No. Does Reinaldo come straight back in even tho he was silly, probably. Pleased that it is RLBs decision.
