Taken from Twitter. Made me chuckle. How good was Trai Hume yesterday man? The **** could go in to a 50/50 with a f*cking double decker bus and come out with the ball
Commentator said about 5 times that it was a poor free kick from Pritchard and Ballard had to do all the work but it was straight onto his nut as he expected. Quality header as well of course.
I chuckled thinking we went almost 100 set pieces without scoring with Pritch taking most of them. Cracking cross yesterday and unbelievable header to keep it under the bar.
It was a quality ball in. Low and pacey, right into the spot. Straight from the training pitch. Ballard got into the old POMO - beautiful echoes of the LJ era
I have given up arguing with folk about Dan Neil. There are still a fair few who seem to have a major distrust of him. For me he is our most important player, and probably close to the best. He can make 1 or 2 mistakes in a game and for some that is all they see. Folk should just enjoy him while he is here, likely to be his last season I suspect with us.
Dan Neil used to give me panic attacks at least twice a game, but he's been bloody brilliant this season. No longer expect any gaffs watching him.
I think people don't like how he sometimes loses the ball on the half turn in dangerous positions but only a select few players in world football, your Rodris and Busquets, can do it consistently without losing the ball. Would hate to see Neil stop receiving the ball the way he does simply because he was caught a couple of times, as the positives of him doing it heavily outweigh the negatives.
The encouraging thing is that he is improving in that respect. Last season he got caught a few times and it costs us goals (or a red card). I don't recall it happening this season so far and he is using his body better to receive and use the ball. He's a real talent
We run the Langley Park Branch bus picking up at Sacriston Crossroads and what used to be the Salutation at Fram. We then go to Sunderland via Ch-le-St so if he is interested, when you can't go, If he can't make either of those stops we could consider arranging a stop at The Red Lion. Seat bookings on facebook page.
personally i have never known exactly why the 4th official is even there, seems to stand and take all the flak from coaches but sure i have heard commentators saying a ref might have had a 'nod' from him at times...think he can 'butt in' if he thinks a ref missed a serious bit of foul play and i think an elbow to the face is serious enough. EDIT: just watched it again, i would say he got word from the 4th official as he originally signalled for a throw in to them, can see him looking at the 4th official then going straight to his pocket.
It's just the way some see a game. If someone can't see Dan Neil's quality, they can't see it. No big deal I suppose. But whatever any of us thinks, there will most definitely be several Premier League teams who would take him tomorrow and pay well to do it.
O Nien may have his faults but for me i will always have time for him. He was the only one amongst the dregs we pulled in, at our lowest ebb, that has improved hugely as a player. He was league one class when we bought him, he is championship class now. Cant ask for anything more. How did the careers of the likes of Baldwin, Power, Flanagan, McGeouch, James etc end up like?
If anyone wants to hear a grown man cry then give this a listen I mean honestly, what a ****ing baby this presenter is - going on and on about how Ballard deliberately set out to injure Maja etc etc
