Like I said, there's a difference between a kick and a foul. The fact he also falls in the opposite direction to the impact of the kick means it's a soft one if it's given. Is that kick enough to make him fall over? Not for me

It's a moot point anyway because it wasn't given and you can twist and debate and moan all you want. It won't change anything

The referee didn't interpret it as a foul. That's all there is to say.

The centre half who came 50 yards to aggressively push onien and got booked. Straight red card at any level. Accept the red. Still think the ref was never giving him red. But then to watch that and give a yellow is blatantly biased refereeing

I don't even agree he falls in an unnatural way he was moving backwards to shield the ball in the move/trick he was doing to beat the defender and the defender kicked his leg away so pretty sure he would fall the way his weight is leaning not the direction he was kicked!

Watched it a few times from different angles and still think it wasnt. Amad was a bit too theatrical with the fall and if it was given it would have been a soft one imo but would have gladly took it had it been given.

I saw a few players having a go at the referee yesterday and Dan Neil was also having a go at the 4th official when there was a break in play and they all came over for a drink. The 4th official seemed to tell him to calm down

Arguing with a referee is about as pointless as arguing with a copper. Even if they know you are right, they will refuse to admit it and use your anger as a reason to be even more biased against you

They don't do it to have that decision changed though. It's a concerted effort, pioneered here by Revie, to put constant pressure on the ref at every opportunity. They hope the ref will sway their way and it often works, as it did yesterday and does often.

Solution easy of course. Immediate yellow card for any remark to the ref other than from the captain, and him too if he gets abusive. It would stop in a fortnight but the game is run by venal chancers who won't back referees up.

Aye. I'd be in favour of that. Start bringing some Rugby Referees into football and see if they stand for 20 something millionaires effing and jeffing in their faces.

It's been mooted before, but football is so rotten and corrupted by the influence of the biggest clubs who don't want it that the idea died a predictable death.

Top end of football is now who can "gain that little advantage", whether it's diving for a penalty, in the referee's ear all the time or whatever they think of next. Football has changed so much since I started watching in the 80s, some for the good - pitches, fitness of players but some is so embarrassing at times, like staying down after being tackled. My grandson does that, holding onto his leg, ankle or knee and not moving and I know looking at him there's nothing wrong with him and all because it goes on in the premier league games he watches on tv

I DO think that if referees were interviewed and explained their decisions not to mention the VAR audio being played in stadiums/on the TV as it is in other sports then that might help

It might. But VAR is so palpably flawed, inconsistent, incomplete and subject to opinion that it has made things worse I'd say. Some refs and linos now clearly leave the decision to someone ( VAR) else.

There needs to be some sort of simplification of the rules to aid VAR. In theory, using video footage to support the referee is a good idea, but the rules have to assist (or vice versa) the decision making
