When we lose, those types of videos generate easy views, it’s lazy content a lot of the time. I think back to when I worked retail fresh out of school. If you have a bad experience with something, your X amount more likely to complain about it, compared to giving positive feedback to a good experience. Football is no different, if we lose people want somewhere to vent frustration to make themselves feel better. It’s a cliche but it’s true, it’s only a game when all is said and done
3/5/2 might be an idea, with a pair of lightning strikers up front , players like like Rusyn and Clarke.
good game that, still a few scary moments but the general play was much better. jobe. ba, ekwah looked energised, burstow motored around and pleased he got his goal. supporters were very much more behind the team although there was a point when we could all hear them getting a tad worried...there was one lad that i would have bought his beer all night, on ifollow i could hear him constantly trying to get some singing going, we need more like him. have said it a few times, this is a young side and there will be times within games and from game to game when things just do not sync, i hope the supporters can stick with them in those times as they need it. my MotM goes to Ba.
He was behind me, in the East Stand, and I always joined in with him ... ... other people did but it was weird that some just wouldn't. After being in the Fulwell for years it's alien to me and a bit sad tbh.
Just finished watching the full 90, and got to say I rather enjoyed that. Much more balanced side, (Pritchard may have actually done us a favour), and a good mix of careful build up play, and longer balls. Three cracking goals really, all from good play. Couple of things..... No huffs from subbed players....look at Jobe's reaction to Rigg (who is gonna be a class player) coming on. Ekwah smiling again. Clarke definately more aware of putting other players in. Ba has some leap on him for his size, and bloody hell, he doesn't half deserve some credit. Over the moon for Burstow to get a goal, had his best game for us yesterday. Didn't look like a team not playing for the head coach to me....looked like everyone played for their shirt. Well done Michael Beale, he deserved that win. Yep, I enjoyed that.
One point in Beale's favour, it was (as far as I know) a new system with Clarke staying up to support the striker and Jobe stepping from the centre to the left wing to cover when necessary. Not only did everyone understand exactly what their role was they executed it like they've been doing it for years. I took that as quality coaching and prep by Beale.
Well finally landed and watched the full 90 mins. My thoughts are that the shape looked better and we were more attack minded. We seemed to be pressing about 10-15 yards higher up the pitch (yes this meant that we were a little more exposed at the back) which gave them chances but I believe this can be ironed out and improved. There were some great attempted forward passes through the lines which did not work but which will start to work the more confident the team become with the style of play. Lastly I thought Dan Neil was very good and probably my MoM even given how well Ba played. I really think that he is custom made to be a lynch pin defensive/offensive midfielder as he is getting better at breaking up play and seems to find space and time to look for a pass or create the angle for the pass. A little bit more development and I think we are going to have an absolute diamond on our hands.
Spot on mate...that move he did where he turned and played the pass out to Clarke with the outside of his right foot was sheer class. If Rodri had done that, media'd be waxing lyrical. He's a special player.
It's his finest moment so far imo. I've cringed, in the past, when he's been in a tight spot, dithered and lost the ball in dangerous positions ... ... in this instance he not only held the ball, and relieved the pressure, he managed to see an expert pass and play it. As you say, little credit from some people.
I see a big improvement in him this season. I've been critical of him in the past when,as you say,he's dithered,I've referenced it to Paul Bracewell-like,where he seemed to want to turn before he got his head up,but when he shows skill and vision like that, he deserves the credit he gets.Love the lad.
I thought Neil was immense on Saturday and my MOTM. Some of the turns to get out of trouble and keep the ball reminded me of Bracewell
@Scout73 ...with your knowledge, would you say Dan Neil is better playing deeper...a la Declan Rice...( which I'm not comparing him to....yet! ), or further up the pitch with a holding player behind him?
I prefer him box to box, his runs into the box are brilliant but i do think he will be a CDM in the future. The lad is just a quality footballer that has all the ability, and attitdue to play in the PL for the rest of his career
Thanks mate....good to have your insight. I'm 60 years watching from the stands, with no more knowledge than that other than playing lower league,so,I've been unsure about his best position. I've often been a bit confused with him....he's sometimes been very effective in the final third, but,I thinks he looks happier a bit deeper. One thing is...he's improving almost match by match! Top lad.
