Agreed mate, always put there commentary on for the away games even when we are on sky. Cant knock Frankie like, not everyones cup of tea but he's one of us and it must be hard to keep it professional when talking about the lads.

Hopefully they get a different role for us to listen too, maybe a post match or pre match discussion or something. They've been the voice of the journey for a lot of us these past few years, will always remember them being in the hands of the EFL cameraman lol.

Pity they can't link up with radio Newc@stle for match commentaries and still do a pre and post match show. A bit like they used to years ago.

God I'm feeling old now. I remember listening to the "It's a goal show" on radio Newcastle and the match commentary on Metro Radio as a kid. They used to alternate between us and the mags, one covering who was at home and the other who was away. Taking a Walkman to the match and listening to the commentary standing on the Fulwell and hearing a drunken John Cairns getting everything wrong. Under Buxton that was often more entertaining than the match itself!

If you've not seen the show get along to it.
Didn't know what to expect but it was fantastic. And I met the man himself.

In all the celebrations I’d forgotten Dan Ballard goal. The reason why we had last weekend. Don’t forget to watch it. Or Mayenda’s v Coventry.

Ordered that one and the Ballard one for my boy!!! Living so far away from my birthplace Sunderland, he does me proud that he loves SAFC and has been blown away by the varicosity and passion of our fans. I said a while ago, that when we do something good it's exceptionally good, but he's witnessed the lows. He's potentially going to be doing a university degree in sports and wants to go and look at Sunderland university.

I'd heard that Tommy had dropped the F-bomb on live TV

... A typically youthful Sunderland – with an average age of 24.3, they consistently fielded the youngest team in the Championship – would not lay down. Patrick Roberts, who replaced the 17-year-old Chris Rigg, another homegrown star, threaded in Mayenda, who wriggled the ball out of his feet with his first touch and then blasted it into the top corner with his second. O’Nien, of course, was first on the scene to greet him, roaring in delight. Even the polished Le Bris let himself go a little. There was plenty more where that came from. “I think the story was written when I came off the bench,” said Watson. “Just look around, it’s ****i … it’s unbelievable.”

Bored at work, waiting for a report to run, so I aksed Copilot this -
How good were Sunderland AFC on Saturday?

Sunderland AFC were absolutely brilliant on Saturday, 25th May 2025 - they pulled off a dramatic 2-1 comeback win against Sheffield United in the Championship playoff final at Wembley, securing promotion to the Premier League!

    Here’s how it happened:

    • Sheffield United took the lead in the first half through Tyrese Campbell.
    • Sunderland looked second-best for much of the match, but they turned it around late:
      • Eliezer Mayenda equalised in the 76th minute.
      • Then, in stoppage time (95th minute), Tom Watson scored a stunning winner to seal the victory .
This win is massive - not just emotionally, but financially too, with promotion to the Premier League estimated to be worth around £200 million. It also marks Sunderland’s return to the top flight after eight years away, and it’s a huge achievement for manager Régis Le Bris, who’s done it in his first season in charge.

The standout players for Sunderland in their dramatic 2-1 win against Sheffield United in the Championship playoff final were:

    ⭐ Tommy Watson
    • Match-winner: Came off the bench and scored the 95th-minute winner with a brilliant solo effort - picked up a loose ball, drove at the defence, and curled it into the bottom corner.
    • This was his final touch in a Sunderland shirt, as he’s set to join Brighton. What a way to sign off
      1
      .
    ⭐ Eliezer Mayenda
    • Scored the equalizer in the 76th minute, showing great composure and timing.
    • His goal shifted the momentum and gave Sunderland belief when they were trailing
      1
      .
    ⭐ Dan Ballard
    • A rock at the back. He was crucial in keeping Sheffield United at bay, especially in the second half.
    • His physical battle with Kieffer Moore was one of the key matchups, and Ballard came out on top
      2
      .
    ⭐ Jobe Bellingham
    • Ran the midfield with energy and maturity beyond his years.
    • His duel with Vinicius Souza was intense, and Bellingham’s pressing and passing helped Sunderland to control the tempo late on.
