Smug, if you are struggling and can get to Morpeth, I leave at around 12.00/12.30 and can pick you up from the station
Cheers mate, very kind but the train I jumped on is the express to Plymouth that doesn't stop at Morpeth. It's another company's train cos I didn't fancy the bus replacement service. The conductor just said my ticket isn't valid so they're throwing me off at the next station ... Newcastle
Piece on Mowbray on football focus. Today’s show should be up on iPlayer soon: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b006m8tc/football-focus Edited edit - it’s about 50 minutes in
MOWBRAY ON INJURIES + STRIKERS Ahead of tomorrow's game Tony Mowbray has discussed Sunderland's injury situation and the striker situation. He says that none of them are 'taking the net off' in training, but has asked for time to allow the likes of Rusyn and Hemir to properly bed in. INJURY SITUATION IMPROVING "They need game time, so Cirkin played in the game the day before for 45 minutes and then played 30 minutes against Leicester City, and four or five others did exactly the same, playing 45 minutes in a bounce game against Hibs and then came and got some game time against Leicester the very next day. It’s a balancing act when people have been out for a long time and trying to get them up to speed to play in the Championship, which is what we’re trying to do. It’s not as easy as ‘oh he’s fit now, let’s stick him straight in 90 minutes’ because you know that you’re actually putting them in jeopardy by doing that, especially if you’re asking them to play at the tempo that they can’t get in a 21’s game or on the training pitch. I hope that I don’t sit here every week and moan about the injuries, but we’ve got some pretty good players who are on their way back and will help. As Dennis played you 30 minutes through the night, he helped the balance of the team with a natural left foot playing on the left side of the pitch." STRIKERS "You have to break them down, you know, you’re the journalists, I'm the coach. You’re almost answering your own question there, it’s to the point of 'are they ready, are they young, are they working hard, are we driving them in training'. Are they taking the net off the back of the goal everyday in training? If they were, I’d be putting them in the team. They’ve come from different countries, some of them are finding it difficult to acclimatise and with the intensity of the work that we do. If they were breaking the net everyday in training, they’d be in the team." RUSYN STILL BEDDING IN "They are young boys learning their trade. Rusyn’s not a young boy, he’s 24 or 25, but he’s from the Ukraine struggling with the language a little bit. Trying to integrate him in and if I thought that they could come in and do the job and help us to score goals and win football matches they would be in the team."
