Last comment for me thought we’d started going in the right direction again (data showed that too) then last 3 we’ve conceded a lot of chances tighten up again we’ll be sound, we’re creating a lot and I back Isidor to do the business, think he’ll score tomorrow he’s another who tends to bounce back from a mistake
Please forgive me I posted this in Watford thread but I meant this one I’m still standing by my guns. I think we finish second. We’ve came through some serious problems this season and yet we’re only 5 points off coming back to full strength. That shows the mentality for me RLB has just mad an interesting comment about the Watford game. Says they reviewed footage to what went wrong with the organisation etc and his words were ‘it’s such a small change but the outcomes can be very different’ I’m interested to see how they respond tomorrow night. we have shown we tend to bounce back and I see a winning run in us yet. Watford will give Leeds a game tonight, Sheffield United have a tough game and Burnley are at home. so we have a chance here
RLB makes a great point about how he is still learning the English game and the players are young and still learning. I know I'll get pelters for this, but not getting promoted this season wouldn't be a disaster, we are improving year on year and peripheral players like Aleksic, Abdullahi & Triantis could certainly improve our starting XI even further. Yes we will likely lose a couple of our better players (I don't subscribe to this notion that we'll lose all of them) but the club have been excellent at replacing players. I have a feeling they see Aleksic as the Jobe replacement.
Now, I'm not saying for a second that this will happen, but this season reminds me of the 1997/98 season where we were always on the coattails of Boro and Forest without ever managing the reel them in. Fast forward 12 months, the team had a couple of minor tweaks but it was a group that had 12 months more experience of playing together and we absolutely destroyed the league. Of course parachute payments have changed the landscape significantly, but I can only see us improving next season.
Can’t wait to have natural width on both flanks again, mundle back will free up Roberts more too, multiple threats ready for the run in, buzzing
What stood out for me was, 'The players are learning and really want to learn in real time' ... ... and, 'We're coming to a point whereby we can have a player flat out, for 65 minutes, then change them'. It seems he is building up to having cover, in all positions' and will let loose a bit more. I might be wrong but I assume we all want to see the likes of Mundle/Roberts/Watson/Rigg/Roberts, etc really going at it. If we replace Mundle with Watson, Aleksic with Rigg and Roberts with Mayenda, or whatever, that's quite a test for a team that's already been chasing us around for an hour. I've suspected, for a while, that RLB's been cagey and patient until we're sure of the play-off's and also concerned about burning players out. It all seems to be coming together, might not be enough but our squad will soon be at the best point since the season started.
I was thinking exactly the same sometime yesterday when I was reflecting on our play-off against Charlton and thinking,if we somehow miss out this time, how we would storm it next year.
I'm with you mate. The arguments people put up against are that we'll lose all our top talent and the Championship will be much harder next season. I don't believe either tbh ... ... if the league will be harder, next season, it means the three relegated sides will be better than those who came down last time ... From the looks of the current bottom three I've seen little sign of it.
Great as always RTB still and looking forward to this one, feels like we should be all over this one and hopefully we are.Gona need something to cheer to keep us warm hopefully it’s a master class and a goal fest COME ON
Gloves and warm hats night tomorrow night. Just back from walking the dog on the coast. I hate Luton. Anti football ****e. I hope we give them a pasting.
I didn't understand when we played them, people were saying 'Yes but they're effective' as if that excuses their horrible football. I'm with you, an absolute battering would be just what they deserve.
Take their left back out of the game and we take their attacking force with it. Other than their wide players falling over at every breath of wind to get him a chance to whip it. I hope they go down again.
RLB has made quite a few puzzling decisions. If both you and he think Luke is a better LB than Dennis then I must not understand football. Luke makes two or three big mistakes every game, never competes in the air, usually manhandles opponents defending corners and is caught out of position so many times the other 3 defenders struggle to keep tight shape. Luke somehow sees himself as a sweeper with a license to go anywhere he wants?? Really, if selected to play CB defend and help keep clean sheets. This myth that Dennis is not playing well, Do you analyse his performance over 90 minutes. I do not think Luke has one attribute that makes him a better player than Dennis. Put the 5 defenders on the transfer market and see who buys who and for what value. RLB has a great team and has them all working hard but he is not the finished article yet either. Watford 0 v 3 Leeds. He picked 2 holding midfielders v Watford in a home game. So to answer your question, I would pick the best 4 defenders and Luke is not one of them.
Don't put words in my mouth! I never said I thought O'Nien was a better full back. I said that everybody in the team needs to prove that they deserve to play and since we don't have cover at full back RLB had used O'Nien there. But that wouldn't suit your argument. If O'Nien is that bad as you make out, can you explain why different managers kept picking him in the team?
O’Nien isn’t a better left back than Cirkin, but RLB moving ONien to left back and taking Cirkin off doesn’t mean RLB thinks he is either. It’s game management and horses for courses.
I get your point but, personally, I think both players would be pissed off if that happened. Would Cirkin come back in for Leeds ... ... and if he did what happens to O'Nien?
