This season has been great.. we have a young exciting team, full of promise that will inevitably make mistakes. Tonight we made a couple… to be honest I’d rather highlight the obvious positives. We will be better next season, our club is in good shape and in good hands
Good point. Just saying to the lads in church door now. We have had a great season. I am not being massive critical just saying some truths in my opinion. Maybe wrong. Will see.
Neil is a far more important player to us than michut. I like michut and he is improving all the time but Neil is a class player. Does he have areas he needs to improve on, of course he does but hes a 21 yr old cm playing for a big club. Michut is decent in the ball but so poor defensively. Neil is in the top 10 for tackles by cms in the whole league, he has so many big big teams watching him - from England n abroad. I was chatting to one the other week who was saying hes so impressed how much hes improved this season. What has gelhardt got to do with a discussion on neil?
Started too slowly and sat off them, allowed them to play through us for the first goal which was poor. Both sets of fullbacks struggled and the wingers ran riot. We get back in front, ironically we upped the intensity and they couldn't deal with the press. Their second goal is unfortunate how it bounces back to him but hes completely unmarked. Third goal is a little bit of inexperience from Hume trying to see the ball out, it looked close to being but their lad keeps his head and finishes well. We come back again, looked a pen from the other end of the ground, keeper gets a touch but enough on it to go in. The fourth goal is pure quality and we tear them wide open, well finished off. A moment of madness from Ekwah diving in because if we'd have managed to clear the ball away the whistle would have gone. Annoying result in the end. Special mentions for Clarke, Amad and Roberts who were superb and to Joffy for getting his goal. Jack Clarke though, one goal and three assists. Yet some think hes ****e?! I thought Seri was megnificent for them and he took the piss, especially first half when given too much time on the ball. Entertaining game, Sky will be pleased.
Andy's Player Ratings: Anthony Patterson: 6/10 Hard to fault him for any of the four goals, although he might be disappointed that he sold one side a little too much for the third. Made an important save just before our first to keep it at 0-1 and bailed O’Nien out in the second half after he misjudged a high ball. Trai Hume: 6/10 Very, very poor for the third goal. Tried to usher the ball out but got caught by the Hull player but almost made up for it when he got on the end of a Pritchard ball and would have scored but for a great save by Darlow. Luke O’Nien: 6/10 Had Tufan run off him for the first Hull goal and completely misjudged a high ball late on but otherwise played OK. Even got forward on occasion into midfield and at one point got down the side in open play and hit the outside of the post with a driven cross. Danny Batth (C): 6/10 Got dragged out of position for the first goal but was otherwise solid, despite the score line. Lynden Gooch: 6/10 Badly out of position for the second goal, as he tried to win a ball that Dan Neil was already competing for. Provided a good assistance to Clarke down the left wing. Dan Neil: 7/10 Won the ball high up the pitch for the second goal and had one dangerous volley whistle past the post in the second. Thought he did well in midfield and showing a more experienced side to his game with trying to manage the players around him. Edouard Michut: 7/10 Worked hard in the middle of the pitch, particularly in the lead up to our first goal where he shrugged off a foul and found a team-mate. Didn’t run with the ball as much as usual but typically reliable passing, if a little safe. Patrick Roberts: 7/10 Got an assist with his ball to Clarke for what should have been the winner and linked up well with Amad all game. Some wasteful set pieces though and not as consistently dangerous as Clarke and Amad. Amad Diallo: 9/10 Let his man run off him in the build up to Hull’s opener but kept growing into the game and looked back to his best by the end of the game. Scored two and was heavily involved in the other two. Jack Clarke: 9/10 Caused havoc down the left wing, consistently getting past his man. Scored one, provided two assists and won a penalty. Joe Gelhardt: 7/10 Hassled the Hull defence all game and was at the right place at the right time for the first goal, still not involved enough on the ball but caused problems with his work rate. Substitutes Alex Pritchard: 6/10 Almost got an assist when Hume got on the end of his ball and did really well in the build up to our fourth. Pierre Ekwah: 5/10 Not really involved much after his introduction, unfortunately that changed deep into injury time when he gave away the penalty thanks to a clumsy tackle just inside the box. Man of the Match: Jack Clarke This could have easily have gone to Amad but a goal, two assists and winning a penalty sees the man of the match go to Jack Clarke. Looked dangerous every time he got the ball, won the ball from deep often and was the catalyst for a number of attacks thanks to his hard work. Should have scored a deserved winner but for Ekwah giving away a penalty with the last kick of the game. please log in to view this image Photo by Owen Humphreys/PA Images via Getty Images
Yes i thought he would be a good signing, has it worked out - clearly not. You wanted chris martin and hes hardly setting the world alight at QPR But like i said no idea why you are trying to 1 up me with a comment about gelhardt when we are talking about neil and how good/bad he is Anyway enjoy your weekend gents, heres hoping for 3 points on monday
You let everyone down today mate. Yourself, your family, the club. But most importantly you let this board down.
Cracking game to watch. Fair play to both teams, that was a cracking example of Championship football.
I wanted an option. That would work for us. Not Gelhardt. It has killed our outball. That said we have done ok. I like Dan too. He has done amazing but lord. Not a big club will touch him with reference to his final phase.
Why didn't Goochie run into the corner flag when he played it into Amad late on. Loved the game today though.
I agree with that although it was sad to see Hull time wasting when they were ahead and getting all agitated when they were losing ... ... it's a lack of class tbh.
Mixed emotions tonight. Thought we were brilliant in the 2nd half and it was a thoroughly entertaining game, but a last min penalty is always a kick in the nuts. Disappointed Clarke didn't make it 5-3 when he had the chance, but overall some good performances (not in defence)
It was touch and go if I'd make today as I was working. Managed to get there last minute. Would've been gutted if I'd missed that.
