Agree with @Oliver's Army we need to get him tied down to a long term contract. I would keep him next season as he's only just turned 17 so I would rather we controlled his development next season then maybe loan out the following yr if he's not playing much
Sorry to disrupt this thread slightly but I thought that I would warn you all that I've bought tickets to take the grandson to the Watford game. Not a big deal you think but he's been to 3 games - Burnley, Swansea and Hull and he's seen a total of 18 goals! It's gonna be as high scoring game. Again apologies lads
Class mate. That's the way our season has been, hopefully it will be another cracking game, win, lose or draw. Hope he enjoys it.
His dad is going to the Pools game and the grandson has got a season ticket there but he'd rather go to the Sunderland game
I think his grandad is having a good influence on the young man. Lad at work has a Pools ST and we usually have a bit crack, they are struggling a bit and in danger of going back down. I'm not surprised a youngster would prefer to come and see us with the way we play tbh. It's all very exciting, especially for a young lad just starting off going to games.
I agree. I'm not a huge fan of the loan system, but I can see how it helps a club perhaps a league down with need for a player. However,it also places the loanee in a different environment and I often think a good reserve league at his home club would be a better answer to develop a young player in the culture of the club he's signed to. It gives a chance for young players to play with and against squad players on the fringe of the first team, first team players coming back from injury who need games, and other young players looking to impress. I've never really understood why a good reserve league was scrapped. I remember going down to Roker in my early days when we were away and watching the reserves play. I remember seeing Colin Todd and thinking...wow! It wasn't long after he stepped up to the first team.Good crowds used to get down there in those days aswell. However,I admit to being a bit fickle and having said all that,I've been delighted with our loanees this season!!
Yes,the atmosphere was casual...but,at times, still used to get a few thousand in there iirc.....though,incomparable to the first team matches when the ground, when I first went, was stuffed full and rocking for every match.
