I'm not sure why O'Nien was available on the bench but didn't start, if it was tactical it was a mistake which was apparent when he came on. If he's ok to play he has to start and we can use a natural well balanced formation. Definitely should play Gelhardt ahead of Pritchard upfront, the lads done alright for me and contributes a lot to the aforementioned balance. Don't know why he was dropped. I like Pritchard but I don't think he's had a good season at all. I know he's had some success with set pieces lately but he's had so many chances he was bound to eventually get something. Great character but I don't think he's made the step up from league one that I expected him to.
Heart says 4-0 but head will settle for a win. Think it's going to be tougher than some think if we don't go in ahead at half time
I said after the game it might have bobbled, it didn't look natural to chip it so high from that close in. It's not like he's the type to panic in front of goal.
One of my high points of the season that corner. Lad who sits with me, as the corner was taken, out his head down and said “oh what the hell is that rubbish?” The lads around us ripped him after that!!
Good on them. There is a few of our fans , (with the greatest respect) need to wake up and see how the tema is playing these days.
Fully agree. Fans slating him as he is being asked to play as a 9. Soon as another option come on in that position he looked far better. He is class on the ball and probably the most knowledgeable player we have. Young players will be absorbing all sorts of information from him on a daily basis. Reminds me of mcgeady really. High expectations and standards.
I've been of the opinion that the last thing SAFC needs is to get promoted this season. However....Looking at where we are to at least get into the play-offs, I have changed my mind a little. These lads have played wonderful football this season and deserve the chance to go through via a Wembley final. Looking at the potential teams we could meet in that scenario leads me to think we would have a great chance. All that said, we need to win tonight, i'm going for 2-0
When he starts the game, in his best position, he's worth his place. He doesn't give defenders a second and organises our press better than anyone else. I've also noticed, after a while tbh, that we keep the play higher up the pitch, for longer, when he's on the pitch. The opposition find it harder to play out, because he's snapping at them and trying to win the ball back ... ... and playing good short passes to bring other players into the move. Not every pass can be a Jack Clarke to Amad Hollywood ball across the pitch
Warnock seems to have them set up in a 5-4-1 formation with low possession and huge focus on set pieces unsurprisingly. Expect another low block on Tuesday, lots of possession and them forcing us to play around them. Fortunately, with Amad, Pritch & Roberts we have the perfect players to do that. Think they will try and bully us at corners, so it's a big night for Patterson, Hume, Bathh and O'Nien. Personally, I'd stick with a back four, but maybe add some fluidity that allows Hume to step into midfield as he did in the 2nd half on Sat I'd go: Patterson Hume Batth O'Nien Gooch Neil Ekwah Roberts Amad Clarke Pritchard Subs: Bass, Anderson, Michut, Ba, Gelhardt, LiHadji, AN Other Hope we start fast and get the 1st goal. Going to be disgusting to watch if Huddersfield get a goal and sit on the lead
Don’t think we can afford to concede the first goal again, need a fast start against these the longer it goes and more frustrated we get it plays perfectly into a warnocks teams hands, don’t know why I’m so nervous about this one
Pritchard had a point to prove against them last time, I’m sure he will again at home. Be daft not to play him right now IMO
Like you,I think we have to get at them. Warnock will have them schooled if they get in front early. So,I would play Michut...who I think is more creative than Ekwah...and I would play Gelhardt up front.
The time wasting and rolling around on the floor would break all records, which is quite a high bar ... ... the crowd would need to boo at every instance and pile pressure on the referee to actually do something. It's frustrating seeing the referee only act during the final few minutes.
We're all a bit nervous mate....it's Warnock....he's so savvy and seems to be able to get a silk purse from a sows ear,for a while,at least. We need to split them open early.
Careful lads, we might be having an honest debate with differing opinions as to the value of Pritchard starting in the team. Nobody has resulted to insults... can't be long till it does though. I take the point that him playing up or near front is not his best position, lack of goals show that. Buzzing in midfield may be better for him? Unless we have better options there.
What I've noticed with Pritchard is that, unlike Ba/Ekwah/Neil, he rarely loses possession, in the middle, allowing the opposition to attack our back line. I like all of those three but they're prone to trying pirouettes around the centre circle which is terrifying ... ... if Pritchard does lose the ball he's like a man possessed trying to win it back.
