Great night, apparently - woke up at 2.30am fully dressed on the sofa surrounded by wine bottles but delightfully no hangover - stream eventually came to life immediately after Wilson's goal - granddaughter has a teddy bear with a Sunderland scarf - have the next teddy bear, need to get knitting... especially as there's another grandson due in 10 - 14 days. You wait nearly 40 years and like buses.. Many thanks for all the congratulations and best wishes - I hope Felltop got home in one piece! DR.
Similar story here mate ... ... not often I drink much on a weekday but f*ck it, this was history being made. Even more sop for you https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/43428-sunderland-a-match-thread/page/7/#comments Posted 8 hours ago 'These are there for the taking tonight!'
The final post (so far) made me laugh We have nothing to fear if Sunderland and Norwich are top 6 possibilities, they were both poor imo. We aren’t far off being very competitive, we just lack quality in key areas at the moment. In other words we could be good if we weren’t crap!!
"We've given a decent account of ourselves. Behind to a very good strike. Their left winger is a handful but apart from that they're pretty ordinary considering their league placement." "Sunderland get a slightly run of the ball and tap in a simple goal." "Sunderland have been poor for me not that impressive considering there position."
I'll take that after the result we got. Won the first 4 home games without conceding a goal and sit top of the league. Not bad for a poor side!
Though the result was great the ref was shockingly lienient, how Adams never got carded or Goudmijn only recieved one yellow is beyond me, a lot of proffessional fouls let go. And, Roberts, track back please when you loose the ball. Another tactical master class by Le Bris
I only half watched as am in hospital at the moment (planned operation). thought Mundle, Isidor and Mepham were great. Friday is the big test for me. I don’t think we’ve been that good for the last 3-4 games and have done really well to ground out the home wins. Leeds is an altogether different proposition.
As Smug says ,all the teams we have beaten ,their fans have said we are nothing special . Well I'll happily listen to that all season if we continue to win. Derby took me back to Div 1 last night, they were awful . Their mindset is more about physicality with ****housery , than football. Hope they go down the Manager only knows one way to play. They were helped by the biggest culprit , the ref he missed everything .
Good luck with that mate. It looks like we're figuring things out during games tbh, I think RLB gives the players the responsibility so isn't constantly shouting and pointing as some managers do. The likes of Rohl are embarrassing at times, it may look good when they're winning but looks inane at 3-0 down.
yes absolutely wasn’t really meant as a criticism. We’re turning performances that possibly would have been draws last season into wins. It’s a great habit. When it clicks again we can be lethal.
It wasn't taken as such, I've just noticed that RLB is obviously aware of what we're doing wrong but allows the players to work it out ... ... it reminds me of the old 'give a man a fish and you feed him for a day' saying.
Happy with that last night. Won without getting out of 2nd gear. Thought we were in for a long night after 5 mins, but Derby ran out of puff. Bad luck for Poveda, but we were warned that getting/keeping him fit would be a challenge. Jobe outstanding and MOTM for me. Neil much improved and Isidor looks a proper player. Top of the league, happy days.
His name was booed when read out then, as you say, every single minor thing was getting lambasted throughout, even at 2-0 up. At least near me, a fairly sizeable minority.
The positivity radiating from all coming down the stairs is incredible, Rusyn looks like hes settled, Proper close squad
I just don’t understand the need we seem to have as a fanbase to have at least one boo boy/scapegoat. It was Bellingham for most of last season (which is nuts in itself as he’d just turned 18!) and now it looks as though Neil has his place there well and truly cemented.
We did enough last night. Last few performances have been the same, but if you're winning ugly, its a good sign. I would like to see us dominate a little more at home, but a win is a win. I think Leeds just might suit us a little more. Possibly be a more open match which could offer our players a better platform. As for last night, Thought O9 was good, Mepham was solid but Mundle was the Motm for me, the kid worked his socks off and has plenty of talent. I have an issue with our goalkeepers attempts at playing out from the back..its a matter of time before it costs us. He got away with a couple again last night.
