Beat me to it! I had images of Arnie as the t-500 smashing a car through the front of the academy and hunting him down in the injury room!
Think Poveda was worth the risk but the 3 year deal was the problem. He warranted a single year at best. Perhaps a 1 year contract that gets automatically extended after 30 appearances or something. Hopefully we don't have the full picture of his contract and its breakable after one year. Otherwise he's going to be a very expensive mistake.
Yeah that's my thinking - all this talk of him being the highest, or one of the highest earners seems highly unlikely. The club is run in a different way these days and I can honestly see him being on a low wage with appearance/performance incentives.
FFS, another match thread and your first post is another dig at the club and he won’t even be playing. RTB has asked you previously not to turn his match threads into an endless whinge, give it a rest or start a thread of your own.
Mine as well, just found out I'm needed at Murrayfield … … the boss insisted I have a few days off for Sheff Wed so I can’t say no. And I’ll need lots of time off for the three playoffs matches
I think it’s equally important that he becomes ‘bonded’ with the club and supporters so his decision on staying would be easier … … even a losing Wembley final, with 30,000 singing his name, might help.
Harrison Jones set to play more prominent role https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/24988195.harrison-jones-set-play-prominent-role-sunderland/ HARRISON JONES is now a fully-fledged member of Sunderland’s senior squad – with Regis Le Bris tipping the teenager to get more first-team action in the remainder of the season.… “He (Jones) showed good qualities during the training sessions,” said Le Bris. “He is nice boy, really well-connected with everybody, and is a hard worker too. He has a willingness to improve every day, so I think he deserved that opportunity. “He has shown on a number of occasions that he is part of the group and ready to play. I think he can get more minutes moving forward, it is possible.” Sunderland’s most recent home game ended in a 1-0 defeat to Hull City, and while Le Bris is adamant complacency was not a factor in his side losing their unbeaten home record, he will nevertheless be looking for a response when Cardiff visit the Stadium of Light tomorrow. “It’s very important that doesn’t happen again,” he said. “I don’t think it was because of an over-confidence – we had other games before where we were on the limit and it was possible to lose at home. “It just means we have to be consistent every time. This league is special – we can’t dominate anyone just because we are there on the pitch with them. We have to work hard, be consistent and also be clinical when opportunities come our way.”
Don't mind Jones. Tidy little player. Not sure his best position mind. Thought he would have been on loan from January. 2 home games on the spin in next few days. Has to be 6 points. Both teams don't travel too well.
Back to the match. I expect to win. They are just above the relegation places. We are in the play off places. We are better than them. Once again I just want us to attack from the beginning and not wake up after we go a goal down at home again. And I hope this next suggestion is not too radical if we do take the lead. Lets go for another one and another after that. lets not sit back and give the opposition confidence. Personally think that this is the time to experiment and give the likes of Alexic a couple of games. We may just stumble on a winning formula giving ourselves more options for the play offs if we do not get automatic promotion. Cheers RTB once again an excellent write up.
A good performance and convincing win is needed, need to get the crowd on their feet, we need the bounce back in the stadium especially now that its looking more likely that its the play offs. I would leave Mundle on the bench and play Mayenda, he is still working his way back to form and has been quiet. I fancy a tight game though, 2-1 to the lads
If fit I would have Mundle on the left, as someone said earlier put Watson on the right and stick Mayenda and Wilson in the middle. Best football I ever saw was under Reidy with 2 x wingers and 2 men in the middle. Lets try and replicate it. Lets get the goals early and then bring fresh legs on with 20-30 minutes to go.
For me Roberts doesnt deserve dropping, I think he is coming back to his best form. I agree with 2 up front mind.
I said last game Roberts was looking better. Go with Roberts and bring Watson on last 30 mins. Just want to go attack minded.
