Inclined to agree but Baath n Ballard could be a formidable pairing. He's a smiling assassin and a credit to our team.
Tremendous. They were bloody awful, all falling down , cynical fouls, pulling back , wasting time, the lot. Some good players being wasted there. Football won today. Thought we stuck at our game really well, played some good stuff and we'll deserved the win. Ballard, Amad tremendous, so too Gooch. No weak link today. 09 is some fecking player too.
If a return to back three with O’Nien, Batth, Ballard as our three - it would be tremendous. (Once all fit). I’d be tempted then to go with Cirkin and Gooch as the wing backs. But then there’d only be space for one of Pritchard, Amad, Clarke and Roberts. Assuming both strikers start. Wouldn’t mind having Amad or Clarke as a second striker. Clearly wouldn’t work up on their own but both could feed off and with Stewart nicely. Either way it’s nice to have options and I doubt we will get a point where we have the luxury of a fully fit squad anyway. And especially seeing that squad may change a fair amount in the next 40 days anyway…
Gooch, Alese and Cirkin are good squad players but with the squad at full strength, and on recent form they would not be in my automatic starting 11, today we were just as solid with the 3 at the back instead of 4 with the 2 up front helping at set pieces. You could say we managed the game and won it well and truly on merit to-day' as indeed we did , but again, I think Tony was 5=10 minutes late with his subs. who knows, its all about opinions. More importantly mate hope you and yours get well soon.
Massive shout out to Patterson as well for that huge save on about 80 mins when they broke through. Any other keeper we’ve had in the post-Short era and that’s 1-2 Blackburn and they likely shut up shop and see the game out
Half of these teams are little better than L1 level. We were told the Championship would be really difficult but I just don't see it ... ... a settled side and we're in the top six.
Definitely the better team. A very unfortunate opener after a bright start but our response was spot on. A cool penna from Ross as per and then we were the aggressor for the majority besides a five min spell they had mid way through the second half, where Patto made a good save. Deserved late winner, buzzing for Simms. How intense was that press today? Lead by Stewart (look how much we missed him, every single thing he offers is positive) and then backed up by everyone else. We forced them into a lot of errors with it! A good win and up to 7th! Enjoy your night everyone.
He has to play doesnt he. For me he is best at centre back where the game is in front of him. He has mobility that Baath and maybe Ballard dont have. For me it is one of them two plus ONien for me. There was a tackle he made on the edge of the box today that just summed him up. We looked under the cosh and he just stepped in and timed it brilliantly. He seems to be a centre back anybody can play alongside as well. Him and Sanderson were class. Now he seems to slot in great with any of Baath, Ballard or Wright. I think it is the fact he is able to be the centre back attacking the ball, or the cover man. I dont actually think he is that far off being one of the best centre backs we have. Would probably make a hell of a captain as well.
Have you agree with you there. Even if you look at the goal difference between the teams there's only really the top 2 who can really beat us.
I didn't watch the match today (posted before I got my wires crossed and thought it was a 3 o'clock kick off) but I have been saying for ages in regards to the model we have etc.. that Stewart should be the one we have a work around in for. No way do we replace what he offers with that press! It was noticeable when he was injured that we weren't on the front foot as much as he wasn't there pressuring them for 90 minutes. The blokes got some engine in him!
Thought O'Nien was immense today, he was everywhere and my MOTM. They're is no way he's allowing TM to take him out of that team - a brilliant attitude to have. Thought Amad was brilliant and Roberts caused problems. All in all I thought we were the better team and deserved the win
I agree. I said at the start of the season I fancied us for a promotion push. The championship really a step up, but not a massive one IMO. We have the players to match any squad for me. It is about keeping Stewart fit now. Do that, get Pritchard back and keep everyone else fit and no reason why we cant do it IMHO. Might well need to start saving for another Wembley weekend. If I were KLD tonight I would sit down and think this is on, how much support does Mowbray need to really push it. It might only take a couple of well judged loan players, and a bit of investment in a well versed championship centre mid and we may have it all.
Didn’t get to the match today too much family stuff going on. But managed to watch the match on sky. We have got some bloody good players and in spells play some great stuff need a bit more physicality in the middle to back this up but if this is the next stage in our development through the leagues we are well on track. Ballard was excellent Diallo is premier class and Stewart changes the whole dynamic of the team. Very happy Onwards and upwards
Well said mate, I'm just looking at Wembley hotels. How funny would it be if we were at another play-off final ... ... Mowbray certainly wouldn't be overawed, nor the players on today's showing. Meanwhile Stoke are losing at Rotherham and three points off the drop zone.
In December 11 years ago, we earned a deserved 2-1 victory over Blackburn with an injury time winner. After that game, there was a feel good factor around the place and we went on to take 19 points from the next 27. The same again is certainly possible.
Funny you should say that, I'm actually thinking of buying tickets under the wife's and grandsons logins just so that they have purchase history!
Blackburn are the closest I have seen to a league one team this season, the rolling around and time wasting was embarrassing. They soon kicked off the one time we done the same.
